I\'m curious if anyone has discovered any documentation on what the pin-outs for the Sharp I/O Port at the bottom of the SL-5500 or SL-5600.

I am posting a file in the downloads area that should answer your question. The file is named \"sio-specifications_030121_v100.pdf\"

When trying to download this file, I receive the following error message:

You don\'t have permission to access /modules/UpDownload/store_folder/SL-5x00/Applications/sio-specifications_030121_v100.pdf on this server.

Possible misconfiguration of the ZUG server?

sorry about that... there seems to be a glich with the downloads module.. it didn\'t add \'www\' before zaurususergroup.com, which caused the problem.. (could be due to the server move last week)

I\'ve corrected it, and am able to download the pdf now... give it a try!

Thanks and regards,

Still having the same problem. Using Mozilla 1.3 under Linux x86. I force-refreshed the page to confirm I am still receiving the same problem.

I\'ve moved it to a new Technical Docs section in the downloads area, and check the permissions... it looks good to me.  I can download it via Opera, IE, and Mozilla (win2k box).

If you still can\'t download it, please post another message, and I can email it to you...

My question is:

On the cradle, is there a different pinout between the 5000, 5500, and 5600. I currently have the 5000 and love it however I ended up with a new cradle and need to know whether it will work or not. I seems to start the sync process but there is no communication between the device and the server.

A bit of info to add to the archives for the 5x00 serial port...

First, the most frustrating part of making my own cable was finding an authority on just which side of the connector pin 1 was located.  For the record, pin 1 is located on the LEFT side of the zaurus.  Pin 16 is adjacent to the power connector.

For quick reference - Pin 3 on the 5x00 is Rx, pin 4 is Tx, and pin 8 is ground.

Rx activity on the serial port can be viewed from the command line:
] stty -F /dev/ttyS0 xxxx  (where xxxx is the baud rate, such as 9600)
] cat /dev/ttyS0

http://www.zauruszone.farplanet.net/wiki/i....php?SerialPort
This site has the most complete info I\'ve found of user-contributed tidbits.  Included are pinouts for serial cables in both DTE and DCE flavors, info on the DigiTraveler, and NexTel phone connections.

Serial port connectors can be purchased from http://www.fivestarassoc.com/Z/
They also sell some pre-assembled cables for various functions.  The connectors supplied are low-profile and do not interfere with the keyboard opening up.  This company is also working on the design of a break-out box.
