Have you tried to set up that link as a package feed? That should solve the dependency issues. To do that click on the Add/Remove Software icon and then click the Install via networks button. Click the switch icon which should bring up your network feeds. Make a new one with that link and name it whatever you want. Then select that new feed from the list and click the ok button to close that window. Now you should see all the packages available on the feed. Select the one you want and then click the ? icon. Then click install which takes you back to the list where you can click ok. The package should be downloaded and installed, with any dependencies. (Make sure you uninstall the one that failed first, if you can).
