How do I mount an ext Cdrom?

I just bought a used external usb cdrom.  I use an external usb hard drive nightly and it was no problem mounting it using /dev/sda1.  However I cannot figure out what /dev/ the cdrom is in order to mount it.   I figured that it would simply be /dev/sda2 but that does not work at all.  Anybody know?  Surely someone has done this....

I have successfully installed a usb external keyboard that is now about 90 percent mapped correctly, but I would REALLY like to be able to use an external mouse.  I had tried the mouse thing on my old 5500 using it as a com device but I never got that going.  However while browsing through the /dev/ folder on my 6000 I noticed that it listed a usbmouse as a device!  I immediately plugged in a usb mouse hoping that it would be as easy as the keyboard (which was darn near plugnplay).  NOPE...not a thing. Is it possible to use an external usb mouse and if so how would you accomplish this?

I belabored whether to put this in General or Software, and decided since I was not having hardware problems and because it was my software that needed modified in order to work I should put it here after all.  MODERATOR- Please if you feel this would be more appropriate elsewhere please forgive the goof and feel free to move it!

Surely the same one....(sda1)? Why would it be different (assuming you've only got one plugged in at a time that is)?

lardman you have summarized my question exactly...why will it NOT show up as /dev/sda1 ??
It just doesn`t.
grrrr.  I know its probably something simple.

Have you tried /dev/sda ?

I use this on Mandrake to mount my Z as mass storage (not that this has any particular bearing, but it does work ;-).

Open the terminal and run "dmesg" - it should show you what the device is being called (although it is possile the modules for scsi cd aren't present on the Z)

/dev/scd0, guys.
The scsi cdroms are under /dev/scd?.
"Generic" scsi devices are on /dev/sg?.
An external USB mouse will work also; you need the latest inputhelper installed for it to work (it comes with keyhelper which might let you map the rest of your keys correctly).
