SD Card Install
« on: October 27, 2004, 11:21:58 am »
On Zaurus 5600, sometimes "add/remove software" applet generates message when installing to SD card media.

In general, which software can be installed to SD card and which software must be installed to internal storage?

When warning messages appear, I simply install to Internal storage.  But now I am running out of Internal storage. I want to move all apps to SD. How can I do that efficiently?

Any clues? Please advise. Thank you.

Depends on your ROM.

With OZ anything can be installed to SD/MMC/CF

I hear that some versions of ipkg have problems installing things that don't sit in /opt/Qtopia if you attempt to place them on a card - i.e. they don't fix up symlinks in other paths.

I think it's also generally a bad idea to put any dynamic libraries onto storage cards unless you can be sure that you aren't going to run ldconfig when that card is unmounted since this will remove the fixups from /etc/etc/ld.so.cache for that lib. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here (Yeah, like you wouldn't anyway )
