I've added
card "Zonet WLAN"
 manfid 0x000b,0x7100
 bind "prism2_cs"

to /etc/pcmcia/wlan_ng.conf

BUT, when I put the card in, the light on the card flashes, and goes off, and if I do cardctl status, it is shows as suspended
cardctl resume makes the light flash again, I check status, and it's still shown as "suspended" :[

I use a 5500 with tkcrom and the wifi card you mention. I didn't do anything to the set up and it worked right out of the box. I'd suggest you removed the changes you made to wlan_ng.conf and do a reboot.

You should then be able to make some progress.
