Is it possible to re-size the handwriting area on the Zaurus.  It's too small for me currently, and I'm hoping there's a simple way to enlarge it.  I'm using opie-handwriting on a Sharp ROM.

There's no easy way as far as I know.

Since you're using opie-handwriting however, which is open sourced, you or another developer could add a feature or simply tweak the size to make it bigger and recompile. It will reduce the window area available for applications though.

What we could do with is a transparent full screen input method that works similar to Jot on Palm, which does a good job of distinguishing when you are trying to write and when you are interacting with an application.

Which Zaurus are you using it on?

If a Cxx0 series Z then you'll probably need to resize the area in the source first, but I've had some success making the area bigger by changing the config file settings.

Can't remember where the config is at the moment, I'll have a search and get back to you, but you need to create it yourself (at least on the Sharp Rom for C760)

Thanks guys.  I'm sort of new to the Linux community, so I don't have an adequate tool-box of sites and forums to visit for information, so I appreciate any information I can get.  On that same subject, what's a good place to download the opie-source if I need it to grow the size of the handwriting box?  And do I need a developer-kit to do this?

My advice would be to read the OE building guide and build yourself an opie-image. That way you will not only get opie sources, you will also have the infrastructure to work with in case you venture to change something.

On the other hand, if you really just want to take a peek at the code, try http://cvs.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/opie/

It takes a while to get used to the directory structure and find the stuff you're interested in. But it's worth it just for the insight you get.

Found the link for the larger inputmethod files which give a bigger space for handwriting on the 7x0:

Enjoy....

I wasn't allowed to see the sites. Can you post some of the info? Maybe my server doesn't like them.
