Hi,
I was wondering if the new fast FP settings in the new OZ can speed up also the programs not specifically compiled for OE and maybe using the compat libs (I was thinking of games like Crimson, exult but also for example the hancomm apps, Hancomm sheet and all spreadsheets should strongly benefit of it!).

I was also thinking of Pocket debian with X-qt.
Will it run at greater speed or not?

I'm afraid you will get incorrect results from floating point calculations. There were some threads about this recently and it's reported quite consistently. Try searching for "ZUC" and you'll get the details.

Exactly. To exploit the power of soft-float the toolchain and the glibc must play. Using the compat libs, neither does [since you're effectively using gcc 2.95.3 and glibc 2.x]

Ok, fair enough.

And what about debian embedded?

X-Qt should be in the OE feed (if I ma not wrong), so are the debian embedded progs running faster/better or there is again no difference and the only way to have faster X progs is to use the GPE version of OZ?

Everything that is compiled with a soft-float enabled toolchain runs faster. That is, only programs that run floating point instructions, of course.
