Z4CK finally hits Amazon.com
« on: November 07, 2004, 05:45:41 pm »
Hi All,

Just thought I'd mention that finally Z4CK has made it to paperb4ck.  Its at Amazon.com, I changed Amazon.co.uk text myself, although as the publishers aren't too good, it doesn't have a description yet...but the cover is there.  I'd like you say thanks to you all for the support you have given me with the book.  Its been great.   I'm just about to start the second, and final book entitled CyberSec.   Finally, I'll manage to purchase a new Zaurus at Christmas, to replace the Zaurus I wrote Z4CK on, which was stolen in a Starbucks in Boston...

Anyway thanks again....hopefully Z4CK will make more people think about buying a Zaurus, if only Sharp would make the units more available and a bit cheaper.

Congratulations

I look forward to reading it.  I like reading paper much better than a screen, so this was a good idea on your part

Hi all,

Just started the first chapter of the second book, with a working title of CyberSec, and Duncan still has his Zaurus...its going to get a bit hairy for him this time round.  Anyway, a question.  A short time ago I was contacted by Vitals Mag (A New York publication) www.vitalsmag.com, who were doing a review on the SL-6000.  They were also planning to write a piece on Z4CK.  Can anyone tell me if the info on the Zaurus, and Z4CK in fact appeared. Would it be possible for anyone to send me a copy of the story (paper or electronic)   Being in Scotland, there is no way I can buy it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Kev

sigmaX,

You can purchase the book in PDF or Plucker version from http://www.z4ck.org, just go to the Buy Z4CK section and pay $3 through PayPal, then read it on your Zaurus!

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Kev

Unfortunately we have no computers in Scotland.  I simply wrote this down on a piece of parchment, and took it to the towns computer scribe, who on his most up to date 80386 computer system, and new 14,400 us robotics modem  has entered this text into this user group forum.   We are Scotland, our technology rules...remember Logie Baird, Alexander Graham Bell...etc etc.

Cheers for the help.

I have this book, in Plucker format and just finished it last night.

Amazing! It's a very good story.

And yes, I read it on my Zaurus.

Congrats on getting it to paperback, good luck with your sales.

Hi,

Thanks for buying the book.  Yep, it's tough getting a publisher.  I think the statistic is one in every thousand books get published?   Something ridiculous anyway.  You may know that I'm starting a subsidised publishing company named at publish-it.org.    Most of the books we publish, such as Zaurus Hacks and Digital Force (Z4CK 2) which offroadgeek is providing feedback for (cheers!) will be published by ourselves.  Basically it will be an 'at cost' publishing service, but if people want to distiribute PDFs via their own site then that would be fine as we wouldn't own the copyright to individuals work.  We're starting to look at books we can publish so anyone out there with an idea give us a shout at kevin at z4ck.org (until publish-it.org) is ready.   As for the PDF sales, there is marginally more PDF sales, but this may be due to the fact that it interests technologists like us.

Cheers,

Kev
