how to run zaurus qtopia apps by command line
« on: November 12, 2004, 02:00:18 am »
Hi Guys,

I know this is the place to ask this question. Please forgive me because I'm a newbie   I just want some pointers from u experts there. I used my zaurus a lot from command line through sshd. My question is is it possible to use command line to call qtopia apps and automate it. I know for instance that i can play music by typing mpegplayer $filename.

What I want to do is to extend this. For example I want to start my wireless lan without taking out my stylus and clicking the icon. Also I want to add to my to do without opening the screen protector of my zaurus     Too scared to scratch that nice screen.

I am not a typing freak but I just find it awkward sometime to open my zaurus when I remember somethin I need to do when I have my ssh connection in front of me already in my office. I can write some scripts. Been working with unix for a while but also imagine the possibility that this can do with cron and everything your zaurus can even write your own to do list. Any ideas

Thanks in advance

I think the GUI app is only a front end for the command line tools in this case. So you could do something like 'ifup wlan0', et cetera.

You could do this, but you'd have to use the dtm tools to access the database directly (and have a set of scripts/binaries which effectively allow you to edit/view/add events from the command line). I'm sure it's doable, just depends how much effort you're willing to put into it.
