New SL-C3000 Forum
« on: November 13, 2004, 11:22:46 am »
Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that I've created a new forum for the SL-C3000.  It's located right under the set for the SL-6000.

Here's a direct link:

While you're reading, I'll take the time to update you guys on some information.

First off, I am almost complete with the new ZSI.  We have full support from Sven at the current ZSI and we are going to be migrating all his data onto the new ZSI.  What this means for you current project admins is that you will have to claim your project.  More details on how to do this will be posted once the site is live.  There has been a very alpha testbed running and it's run pretty smoothly so far.

As well, there is a new magazine being started called 'Free Software Magazine'.

The website is located at:

Here is a copy of the email I received.  I have spoken to Tony and he says that the offer is open to all of the ZUG community, so I thought you all might enjoy it.

We started a new (both paper and electronic) magazine called "Free Software Magazine", a publication which focuses entirely on free software. We invite you to have a look at our web site: Issue 0 of the magazine is here: The first issue of Free Software Magazine will come out in January. Issues 1 and 2 will come out in electronic format only, and issues 3 and 4 will be printed and sent to our subscribers and key people.

All the articles published in Free Software Magazine are released under a free license (GNU Free Documentation License, Creative Commons, etc.) six weeks after the magazine's publication. The magazine is not highly technical. It contains case studies which explain how a system or a piece of software works, as well as articles on patents, licenses, intellectual property and freedom in general.

We are looking for people willing to write for us. We are looking for both technical AND non-technical articles. We are also interested in technology-orientated short stories! The best thing to do if you would like to write for us is read this page: From there, there is a link to which explains the magazine's structure.

Free Software Magazine is also about helping free software consultants to prosper. This is why we have decided to offer, for the first 4 issues of the magazine, free advertising to small-to-medium companies which contentrate on offering free software-based services.

So, here is the deal:

* you get a one-page ad in the first 4 issues + banner space on our site. These ads will be FREE.

* Next April, when you have a clear idea whether the ads worked or not, you can continue with the campaign or stop it

This way, you can build up confidence and see the results before paying any money.

Here are the specs for the advertising material:

Magazine ads:

Full page ad : 21.0cm X 29.7cm
Half page ad : 20.1cm X 12.9cm
Column ad    :  9.1cm X 25.8cm

The images must be 300 dpi JPG images with MAXIMUM 10% quality loss.

Banner ads:

200x150 GIF images + URL

Please make sure that the ads are "meaningful", and would actually encourage people to contact you.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

For the sake of not submitting his address to spam, if you are interested in his offer feel free to message me here on the boards and I'll give you his email address.

Lastly, don't forget about the ZSI Layout contest where you can win an Sl-5500.  It shall be ending soon so if anyone still wants to enter, get your design in.
