860 + Kino2 v0.3 on Sharp1.4
« on: November 14, 2004, 10:43:06 am »
Is there anything I need other than the Kino2 package from the download section here? Trying to play a video file from the kino2 gui just goes to a white screen and back to the gui. Also happens with mp3 files.

My 860 is running the standard 1.4jp rom.
I ran kino2 from the command line and there were no error messages.
Running mplayer from the command line just got a segmentation fault.

I tried copying the kino2 and mplayer files from the kino2 v0.22 file over, and I can play files with that, but I can't turn on the overlay - it goes back to flashing to full screen and back.

Changing the direct access to framebuffer, double buffering, or full screen options doesn't seem to affect the outcome.

Any ideas?

The problem is that mplayer in kino2 was compiled with a different gcc and glibc than the one on the Sharp rom.

You will need to find out what is missing and install the realted compat libs to allow mplayer to run. (ldd will help there)

kino2 0.3's mplayer was compressed by a tool call 'UCLX'
it can be download from http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1097
decompress it so it can be used.

Well, that explains that. I de-compressed mplayer, and now it works without  a seg fault.

I still can't turn on overlay, and double-buffering seems to slow it down too much.

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with the quality. The videos that I've converted so far have ended up being quite watchable (including subtitles) at ~50megs/25minute file. Now to get a microdrive....

Thanks!
