Control infrared by script
« on: November 15, 2004, 03:53:36 pm »
I just played around a bit and found that I can turn discovery on/off by doing "echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/discovery". This updates the icon on the taskbar (and I can get discovery to be on without the irda being on). I have had a look around, but I can't find any way of turning the irda itself on/off, or enabling receiving of files.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks
Simon

Found it! (stumbled upon it by chance actually, but hey).

In case anyone is wondering...
'ifconfig irda0 up'
'ifconfig irda0 down'

This updates the icon on the taskbar as well.
Don't know how to control receiving of files, but I don't really need that anyway.
