Zsi2 Layout Voting
« on: November 20, 2004, 12:47:45 pm »
Ok guys, now's the time to vote for your winner.  Whoever gets the highest amount of votes at the end will win the 5500, and as well will have his layout be the main one for the ZSI.

Here are links for each user and his layouts.  Some of the users have submitted more than one layout, so if your vote is for one of those, simply comment on which one in a reply to this message.

Here are the links for each user:

Since you are viewing that, I will take the time to inform you guys that the official name will be ELSI, or the Embedded Linux Software Index.  Currently, we have imported all the data from the original zsi and we are cleaning up spam.  If you guys are bored and feel like helping, feel free to browse through the site and when you find a piece of spam (there are lots), click on the 'report this project' link.  Also, if you find any bugs, please let me know either via PM here for via the ZSI2 Forums on this site.  As well, please let me know how you feel about the flow of the site.

It should also be noted that I cannot win the contest.  If you choose one of my layouts, than that will be the main one, but the 5500 will not go to me as I am the contest founder and that wouldn't be right

Ok well, vote away!  Contest ends December 18th.

I find it a bit strange that most logos were designed for the name ZSI2 and now the name is officially ELSI?

Yaa, the name wasn't official until a couple days ago.  It shouldn't be an issue.

Tough call indeed. I like simplicity so I'll go with network.guy: http://www.dangerz.net/dz/contest/networkguy/networkguy.jpg

Voted for yzord because the theme is in harmony with the present zaurususergroup forum one. Skoopie shiny head is very interesting too (http://beazco.brinkster.net/zsi2/shiny_layout.png).

Other themes are squarer. Certainly faster for everyday use of this new database.

I just realized this. Zaurus Index is a Zaurus software index database with Internet front end. Whaterver could be the final appearance, as long as it is easy to use well structured and powerful.. people will like it.

networkguy2.jpg for me, its classic and small. More info on 1 screen = the better
I liked the fuukcomp a lots but, it take a lots of space.

Btw dz, Im still hoping, that we could have a "My profile" or something or a cookie that remember your last choicem, that you could choose the design you "prefer". Thats would be neat

I liked fuukcomps second entry best.  Yzord's is too fancy for my tastes and network guy's would not stand out from all the other linux sites.  I guess I like the technical style of fuukcomp's.  I'm sure it could be reworked to take up less space.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

Is it possible to consider running a second vote against the two finalists or a short list, since I voted for chaos and it is not likely to be the winner, I would like to have a chance to give my opinion on the final result. And given the fact if a second vote is not held the winner will not be the choice of more than 50% of us.

Hmm, we could do that.

I need to have everything tallied up by the 18th of December.  I'm leaving to visit my girlfriend on the 23rd and won't be back until the 4th of January, so the 18th will give me time to put it all together.

If you guys want, a week before the 18th, I can take the top 3 and they can have their own separate vote between the 3.  The voting would start on the 12th, and end on the 18th.

It's totally your choice though.  Let me know..
