I think this has to be the first question everyone wants answered : Do anybody knows if someone is selling the Zaurus + Accessories anywhere in Toronto?

I got my SL5500 browsing through ebay.ca :I found a so-called USA company that turned out to be some guys from Singapur. No complains, I got the Z in three days.

Almost all the Zaurus lists I am subscribed to, have this question from GTA people. Seems there is not a local distributor; or. maybe given the wide availability of web sites to shop around, there is not a local market big enough to justify the effort of stocking Z related stuff.

All malls have a place to buy PDA/Mobile accessories where I can see the Lexmar and Sandisk cards, but when asking some of the attendants about the Z I always receive the same funny look.

If anyone knows more about this, please advise

Thanks!

I did some extensive searching in the downtown area looking for a place that sells Sharp products with no luck.  I finally ordered mine from a guy in the USA.  Would have gone with tigerdirect.ca if I had known how much the taxes/duties would be!  I got nailed like an extra $55 on delivery!

I have a Linksys WCF12 that I ordered from an online retailer based in Markham.  When I asked around the shops (downtown) about CF wifi cards, I either got looked at like I had a third eye, or told flat out they didn\'t exist.

Oh well.  I did find a great buy on an SMC wifi router that made up for the previous hassles.

Do any of you belong to other Toronto computer oriented user groups?  I was active in GTABUG for awhile last year, but got busy with school and that trailed off....

I know \'the look\' you are talking about! Last weekend I asked a guy from Battery Plus about a CF Ethernet cable  and I got \'the look\' once again. Then I showed the Zaurus and this guy sent me to Radio Shack(!).  Could you please post the site of this Markham retailer? Thanks!

Well, avoid compusmart stores! That\'s the first rule. Their prices are ridiculous...

My only advice is http://www.canadacomputers.com, they are having nice SD/CF prices. Call them before you go there, they are not having everything in stock though.

At Compusmart they wanted to sell me an iPaq screen protector for 29.99 + tax... Incredible. It is containing one sheet only. So I walked into Staples, where they have the Fellowes Writeright for 19.99 containing 10 sheets.

Looking for a good WiFi deal too.

http://www.microwarehouse.ca/

This is the retailer I ordered my Linksys WCF-12 from.  They shipped very quickly, and they seem to have a large amount of PDA stuff in stock.  Not exactly the greatest prices though, but it beats paying duties and what not from US retailer shipments.

Hey is the WCF12 working well? I am planning to buy one, but I am also hearing opinions on it telling it is faulty.
I am using OZ 3.2 btw.

My WCF12 works fine with OZ 3.2, but I cannot say it functions perfectly.  I occassionally experience a strange screen flickering when the card is active.  It almost seems like the screen is getting some interference from something.  Or perhaps when the WCF is transmitting, the power draw jumps a bit, dropping the levels provided to the screen.

Other than this behaviour, which I have never heard of from other 5500 + WCF12 owners, the card is great.  Perhaps something in my Z got damaged when I dropped it onto the sidewalk a few months back.

The problem I had been having with the screen flickering, when my WCF12 was in use, seems to have corrected itself.  My Z sat unused on a shelf (plugged in of course) for almost 3 weeks...  Then when I got back on it and tried the Wifi, no flicker!

tunemx, did u end up buying a wifi card yet?

Hey guys,
I live in London, Ontario...have had the Z since the beginning of this summer. I bought the Linksys WCF12 card, and it worked right out of the box without any glitches. I have an SL-5600 running proto\'s TCK rom.

I do have an occaisonal problem where I keep getting a \'card busy\' message when I try to disconnect, and to fix this I either suspend/reboot.

p.s. Compusmart IS a ripoff...I remember paying around 110$ for the rom, and on canadacomputers it\'s 92$.

Cheers!
Sean.
