Hi

I just got a SL-5500 - and been playing around with it its very cool, but wanted use my wireless and QT would not find it so, i flashed it with OZ 3.5.1 Opie and then noticed it lost loads of programs like webbrowers and mail programs, so went to install some and package manager is crap, so uninstalled the package manager and put old one back on, it listed loads of links to packs via my wireless to network, but none would install just got errors on all,

so decided to try a diff system so tried Crako rom, which installed ok but i could not get passed the change root password screen.

so the put OZ GPE on.. which looks lush, but also wont let me install any packages.. just comes up with errors that i dont understand.

Now... im stuck and wanna go back to QT and just stick with that cause it worked but wireless didnt, but its better than a Gui calculator with wireless. how can i go back to QT.. or is there anything i can do to get packages working or explain why root password gabled msg appears on crako thing..

Basic's i want to be able to Pop3/imap my email at work and calender functions and webbrowser and some games.. and thats it.. so just need something that will allow me to do all that.

Hi,
if you wanna easy system to go, take hentges rom.
http://www.hentges.net/misc/openzaurus/oz3...opie1.1.4.shtml
Take also there kernels from hentges:
http://www.hentges.net/misc/openzaurus/ker...xa3-embedix-r6/
-Flash
- Take out all cards while firstboot
- The rom comes in German, but after calibration screen you can choose english
- Go to opie-aqpkg (pakagemanager), Check if the openzaurus feed is the right one.
- The right one is this:
http://www.hentges.net/misc/openzaurus/feeds/oz3.3.6-pre1/

- Check out my feed:
teletubbie.hentges.net/feed

I compiled these all for the rom

For some packages (for example hancom, opera) you need the compat libs. Get them from here:

http://www.hentges.net/misc/openzaurus/fee...e_1.1.4/extras/

The pakages are oz-compat and opie-sh-micro
You need place for them, the best solution is to get an ext2 SD card.

You can use the opiemail from my feed as mail client, but be careful with that. I have no problems with that, but one guy mentioned once, it didnt leaved pop3 mails on server. I never had this problem.
Once you have an SD card, you can also move some dirs to card:
The steps:
http://www.linux-migration.com/ch05s10s05s02.html
http://www.linux-migration.com/ch05s10s05s03.html
http://www.linux-migration.com/ch05s10s05s04.html
http://www.linux-migration.com/ch05s10s05s05.html

Last step has to be modified to:
Code: [Select]
# mkdir /mnt/card/usr

# for d in share; do
> cp -a /usr/$d /mnt/card/usr/$d
> rm -rf /usr/$d
> ln -sf /mnt/card/usr/$d /usr/$d
> done
This because there is no usr/local directory and the original script wants to remove usr/local and then you will get errors.

That was the crash course on OZ for newbees.
Have fun
Sam
