Okay everybody a quick status update - first of all i spent almost like 2.5 hours downloading the first testing ROM, internet in Russia rulez!!! But i have succefully tested and almost everything is working like a charm ..... BUT:

As always with software, some of the new features destroyed some of the old fixes so i contiue working on fixing them but on the positive side this also includes some of the features we were planning on not releasing now will be included in this release.

So if you all have some patience we hopefully have something ready within the next 24 hours - yes i should stop posting date but everytime we really  believe we can make it :-)

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

hehe,  I've been checking twice a day now.  Down from like 30x a day.  Trying not to go crazy....

However,  I totally respect the goal of putting out a bug free version.  Thats certainly what i want in the long run, rather than a buggy version now.

Thanks for all your hard word Laze.  Nothing I respect more than a perfectionist.

I'm still using Cacko but have been very impressed with screenshots and comments from all of you about pdaXrom so I'm seriously considering switching. I have not seen much discussion about this lately, but is it still true that the battery life is the big advantage Cacko has over pdaXrom? I read this in some fairly recent thread (I think) and am wondering whether this has been or can be addressed (if true). Also, is it still true that pdf viewers are unstable or not compilable on pdaXrom? I will give up certain packages (ie stageone, safedee, and textmaker which I don't have but was planning to buy) that I have really learned to live in Cacko but not a pdf viewer. Anyone has any new/updated info regarding battery performance issue and pdf?

I havn't had any battery problems since the some of the very early releases.

There is a PDF viewer available for pdaXrom, but it's not as good as the one for the qtopia based roms.  Some docs it reads just fine, others it doesn't read properly, a few just crash it.

I and several others asked for the qpdf2 (the better version) to be included in the upcoming RC7 and I recall a hint at one point that that might happen, but the source code is reported to be a horrorshow of ad hoc patching. We'll find out Real Soon Now.

qpdf2 src is apparently bad enough to frustrate openzaurus people to give up their porting effort according to recent thread (I believe in oz forum on this site).

Amrein new SDK is not available yet..

We are currently fighting some very strange bluetooth hardware bugs and optimizing the configuration of the input handling so that as much as possible is customizable :-)

We are not sure about release but we will be fighting all weekend!!

I don't know how other see this... as they are mainly users... but me I'm still suffering because I have nothing to do to help.

I know you don't have a tasks list where I could pick in something to do but... I'm still hoping to see this for next release.
