OK. Now that I have the right kernel, 3.5.2 works reasonably well on my C700. Setting up wifi and wep was actually easy (but one needs to eject and reinsert the card for wep to be active the first time). I still have the following issues, though (in no particular order):
-setting the time from the network is 1 hour wrong (I am in Berlin time zone, it may be linked to the pb of "world time zones")
-package manager often hangs the machine, especially after mulitple installs (memory leak?)
-installing to a place different than root (I installed to /home) often results in incomplete simlinks (I think somebody should sit and take the time to think about a better solution than those simlinks all over the place, they seem to cause 90% of thee bad installs...)
-konqueror appears unable to initiate a ssh session (I think, it hangs on pages which I think require encryption). On the plus side, konqueror is impressively fast.
More reports coming as I'll continue testing if somebody is interested...
