Sd Card Physically Stuck In Sl-6000
« on: December 11, 2004, 05:47:44 pm »
So, I go down to the store, find a great price on a GIG of SD, and buy the PQ1 1GB SD card.  I pop it into the slot of my Zaurus, and...
I can't automount it, and I can't mount it as root.
So, I decide to stick it into my PC, and format it, to see if I had an unformatted card.  PRetty likely.
But, when I press down on the card, it doesn't pop out!  I press, I pull, I use needle nose pliiers and pull... It just won't come out!

I have a 128MB transflash w/ adaptor that worked just great.  So I think I know why the memory was so cheap.  Any ideas on how to get the memory card out of my Z?

Got it out.
I had to use a screwdriver on the little ridge at the top of the SD card.  The Write Protect tab is pretty cheesy.  I think it's made from polypropylene (spelling?) and had quite a bit of flash on it.  So the tab put too much friction on the case, and the card got stuck.
I took a knife and trimmed the flash off the tab, and now it works perfectly, both physically and electronically.  So if you are looking for low cost SD memory, PAY ATTENTION to the quality of the plastics.
