Browser Used For Online Banking
« on: December 28, 2004, 12:07:06 pm »
Subject pretty much says it all.  I'm running stock Sharp ROM, SL-5600.  I thought upgrading Opera to 7.55 might work, but I still get the warning message from Wells Fargo that says it will no longer work in 34 days.

Any other browsers that might work (and that run on stock Sharp ROM, of course)?

Thanks for any help/info.

Yes, no doubt it works with some banks.  It doesn't (or won't within 30 days) work with Wells Fargo though.
And because I am using a 5600 with the Sharp ROM, I don't know that there is any other alternative.

You might want to look into the ZWiki and try the instructions for running X apps on your stock rom.  Then you could try using Firefox, which I believe someone claimed to have running in another thread.  Don't know if that will work, but it's one of your best bets for a more capable browser.

Netfront 3.0 allows you to spoof your user agent string, you might want to try that.

Does it run on a 5600/Sharp ROM?  I've looked for an ipk, but haven had any luck finding one.

The Firefox suggestions would be ideal, really, as that will continue to be an approved browser by Wells Fargo.

I don't know (have an 860). Have you looked whether your version of Opera can do this as well?

Opera 7.55 definitely won't (it runs fine on a 5600, though).  Wells Fargo throws up a warning that it soon won't work.
