Hey Coredump

I see there is another update on your site for the sl5500 rom, the last one from a few days back broke wireless, but I've been messing with the Z here and there.
The wireless card sometimes shows up as an anonymous memory card, so I have to eject the card and reinsert it for it to work. This is what happened on your first release, your second release completly fixed it, but it seems to be back now.
Basically it seems to work, locks into my network, even with WEP. but as soon as I connect to the package manager or anything requiring a net connection, it drops the connection, its like the card shuts off.

Could you include some more packages in your next release kind sir?

A web browser
Snes9x, mame, frodo (game type stuff) - maybe incorporate the script and front end to make the rom builds from a recent posting here.

codecs for mplayer (xvid/3vix/divx/.avi)
xmms works very well for mp3s, but i understand it can be used as a front end for mplayer?

I kinda got some wmv to work, but the framerate is about 1/2 and the voice is way out of sync, although the voice is not choppy at all.

Whats the best way you would choose to install these new roms, how would I wipe out the sd card to flash as I don't want my changes interrupting your ' clean ' rom and cardfs, perhaps you could put a requestor in to format the card before the install of the apps happens?

You're probably a really busy guy, but you've made serious inroads into this Z - thanks for all the work

Cheers,
one

I would also like to see emulation included in the next release and codecs etc. cos my snes9x is yet to work on hentges ROM.

Would be very much appreciated coredump.

Konqueror-Embedded is the only GUI browser available for Opie.
It doesn't compile and noone seems to be interested in fixing it.
snes9x doesn't compile either.

As for the mplayer codecs: are they included in the 3.5.2 feed?
If so, what are the package names?
Dunno about XMMS. I don't listen to mp3s or watch movies on my Z

I'd rather not format the card on new installs. There a few "easter eggs" in CardFS ROMs which would become useless otherwise.

I always do a
Code: [Select]
cd /mnt/card && rm -rf opt usr bin sbin lib etcbefore re-installing cardfs.

A dialog to do this on request isn't a bad idea though. I'll think about it.

I'm currently preparing version T4 w/ opie 1.1.8. Any special wishes for additional applications?

Absolutely

I vote for:

Konquerer ( I see some people got Opera embedded working)
Gaim without a broken MSN - or another way to use msn, such as msn2go
Frodo - maybe...
Zmame

...?
I'm not even sure whats out there as the filenames are pretty cryptic sometimes

maybe Samba client so I can see / mount my winxp directories.. hmm

Its up to you Coredump - anyone else have suggestions? I've got to run off to work..

Your new opie1.1.8-T4-RC2-DE  has the z and y reversed on keyboard use, e.i. y makes z and z makes y, unless you do 'FN-key' – z for a z . Is this an Easter egg?

Happy New Year!

Well no

The "-DE" stands for "german" and german keyboards are "qwertz" and not "qwerty".
This RC still has some bugs, namely icons are missing in some applications.
That will be fixed in a newer snapshot.

I've uploaded another snapshot (T4-RC3) which features prboom (w/o .wad of course) and
snes9x.

I'm interested in feedback by people who have more than one partition on their SD or CF cards.

Early snapshots will only be in german, but that doesn't mean you can't use it
Just select english as your language on the first boot and remove opie-zkbapplet.

The last snapshots before the final release, and the final release itself will of course be available in
german and english.

I've uploaded RC4 with german and english ROMs.

You no longer need to wipe the SD card for CardFS, the installer
will do it for you now.

Happy flashing

Your RC4-en looks good and everything works that I've tried so far. But I'm having a lot of lock-ups when trying to eject or insert the CF-card. I've tried 3 different cards and tried using the terminal with umount and it still locks up, you must soft reset to fix it. The RC2-de did not do this.(is it the same kernel?) I thought I would let you know and see if anyone else has this problem?

I really like that new installer!

Thanks
