Sync Sl-860 With Qtopiadesktop 1.7
« on: January 05, 2005, 03:13:34 pm »
Hi all,

I want to sync my SL-860 with my pc. I use debian with qtopiadesktop 1.7 and cacko 1.21b for my Z.
What I did so far:
- connect Z to usb
- insmod usbnet
- ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.200
now I can ping the Z with : ping 192.168.129.201

I don't know how I configure qtopiadesktop to have a connection to the Z. I configure usb with USB IP 192.168.129.200. But I get no connection.
Can anybody help me? I want to sync my PIM and upgrade to cacko 1.22.

Regards
TimZ

Cacko ROM is based on the latest Sharp ROM, which uses a propriertary sync method that the Trolltech Qtopia Desktop does not support. You need the Sharp Qtopia Desktop, except they only released that for Windows and it is closed source.

There is a project that has reverse engineered the Sharp sync protocol, but it cannot be used with Qtopia Desktop as even Trolltech's version is closed source.

Look here for more: http://zsrep.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/main.py

Thank you for this information.

I discovered, that you can only sync To-Do data. But that is not what I need. I need a software (windows or linux) where I sync  my old pim data (address, calendar) in order to resync with cacko 1.22.
I saw in the cacko 1.22 faq that it is the safest way to sync the data to onather box. So can anybody give my a hint for the correct software?

I also installed Qtopia desktop on a windows box, but this also doesn't work. So pleeeease help!
It must be possible for a stupid person to do this.

Which version of Qtopia Desktop are you using? Trolltech's versions are not compatible with the Sharp ROMs. You need to use the version of Qtopia Desktop that Sharp supply with your Zaurus.
