I have had no luck looking for a thin hard case for the 5600 that is a snug fit;
the Belkin I tried was 1/8\" too short;
I had to settle for a universal soft case when the 5600 travels in the briefcase;
innopocket makes aluminum cases for Palms, but they don\'t fit ;
the lack of a hard case  for the 5600 has been the biggest weakness found so far;

If one shows up, please let us know, thanks

I too struggled with the case decision, and the lack of product selection for Zaurus 5500 did not help. I ended up searching for other less customized options. Not sure if this might be what you are looking for, but this Otter case has worked great for me. It definitely does not fit in a shirt or coat pocket, so I primarily use it for travel when I need a hard case.

Zaurus 5500 fits pretty snugly with a little room to spare on height and depth.  Width is almost perfect.

I received a universal PDA case from amazon.co.uk today.
It\'s a perfect snug fit for a C860, and only £4.99!

I\'ve attached a photo.
It\'s a bit gratuitous, but I like showing people my Z! :-)

I really like the Nutshell case I got for my 5500.  It\'s a holster-type design, and accomodates the 5600 as well.  I have the belt clip version.  I\'ve had it for about a year now and it\'s done a good job protecting my Z.  Here\'s the web site, despite the fact they\'re in New Zealand shipping was reasonable and quick:

I have a piel frama case for my 5500 and it is REALLY nice.  I wish they made a case for the 760.
good luck!

Yes I agree with you, the Piel Frame case (i had for the 5000d) was too good.

But for the C7xxx series you could check the PDair leather case. I got one along with the C750 (together deal), and while its not as leathery and as well finished as the Piel Frama leather, this case is pretty good actually.

The nice thing is it clips on to the Zaurus bottom hole and the side holes and thus doesnt require a case as such. Its more of a cover.

I\'m a sucker for PDA cases!
I\'ve got two for my C860, have a 3rd one on order from conics.net and now I\'ve seen that tuff-as-nuts website I may have to get another. :-)

I got the PDair case with my C860 when I ordered it from shirtpocket.
It\'s a really nice case.

The only problem I had with it is it\'s a bit awkward to get at the compact flash card. I had to unhook it and take it out of the case.
Maybe my case was a bit stiff, but I had to use a bit too much force to unclip my C860 from the case. It clips in easily enough though.

I was scared I might put too much pressure on the wrong part of the C860 and damage it.

I\'m going to stop reading this thread now.
It could cost me too much money! :-)

Well I used to have a 5500, 5600 is due to be delivered today, I used to use a GBA case for mine.  It had enough room for the Zaurus to fit in there as well as a couple of small items and was padded and had a strap to attach to your belt.  Though I did take the GBA tag off of it.  This was not a case for the newer GBA-SP and they can be found for about $10 or less from time to time.

vishhnja--

Tell me a little more about the the Nutshell case for your 760/860.  Did you get the full flap or the tab closure?  What happens when you have a compact flash WiFi card in the Zaurus, can you close the case with it in?  What options would you recommend for me?  Thanks.

Okay, I have the tan brown version with the tab closure, belt clip and loop and a card pocket. The Zaurus still fits into the case with the wifi card inserted, so this is not a problem at all.
My version looks very nice, though a bit too masculine to me: it has a kind of an \"Indiana Jones look\". Maybe it\'s the colour or the sturdy finish. But as I wanted to have a case that could protect my Zaurus and that would allow to reach the Zaurus easily, it\'s the right case even for a girl ;-).
I think you could get a more understated look with another colour and darker sems and by leaving out the card pocket. But the card pocket comes in handy for me, so I would recommend it.
If you would like to see pictures, I could send you some,

hope, this helps

I\'ve found Targus cases to be very nice and very affordable.  I\'ve been using the \"universal sport\" case for 1.5 years and I\'ve been very happy with it.  I bought it at Best Buy for $9.99.  Targus has it on their website for the same amount: <http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PDAT05>

The Z attaches to the case with velcro.  I put only one velcro strip on the top (rear, of course) of my 5500, just below the CF slot.  This allows the bottom part of the Z to lift upwards so you can use the keyboard without removing it from the case (the velcro is very strong and secure).  My WiFi card sticks out the top a little, but you can still zipper the case around two sides.  The fit is slightly tight around the corners (when you zip it shut) but it hasn\'t been a big problem.  Just have to be careful not to catch the hinge of the screen protector when the zipper comes \'round.  The front and back covers extend slightly beyond the zippered sides providing excellent shock protection when you drop it.  I\'ve dropped mine a few times but my Z has never been harmed.

I\'ve just started looking at cases for my c860 and, so far, I think I may just buy another one of these Targus \"universal sport\" cases!  The c860 fits very well and you can even still use the keyboard without removing it from the case!

Targus seems to have a few new ones on their web site though, so I think I\'ll look at some of the others before ordering.

zbones: that is awesome how you colored your z..  if you could post some kinda of tutorial or just a few notes on how to take it apart without breaking anything to color it, i\'d really appreciate it

i\'ve thought about doing the same, but i dont want to risk accidentally ripping something :/

first  let me say that the piel frama is worth the money for a 5500 owner, i always have mine on my hip all day. plus an extra belt clip mounted in my car gives a convenient place to hang it then.

and that was nice zbones, real nice with the black. why didnt ithink of that?  should work nicely with krylons fusion paint(its the best i have found for plastic, really works nice)   but i cant decide on a color.
