Compatibility Openzaurus/sharp Rom
« on: January 07, 2005, 04:46:07 am »
Hi,

I am new to Zaurus, so I apologize if this issue has already been discussed !

When trying to run packages found on ZSI (like u-bahn or qpdf), I have the following error : "undefined symbol: _7QString.shared_null"

Does it mean those packages have to be rebuilt with an SDK for OZ?
Is a library missing?

My config :
SL5500 - OZ 3.5.1

May be It would be better to upgrade to OZ 3.5.2 ?

Thanks

The (newer) releases of OZ are compiled using version 3.* of gcc, so packages compiled with gcc 2.* are not binary compatible. That's what you're experiencing.

You can get around that by installing the compat-libs. You'll then have to run makecompat on every program compiled with gcc 2.* (there's a small graphical interface for that as well), so that it uses these.

Cheers

Even better, always check the OZ feeds to see if the applications you want (or their equivalents) are available.  AFAIK, both u-bahn and QPDF (or a PDF reader of some kind) are available in both 3.5.1 and 3.5.2.

Read openzaurus.org in place of zaurus.com

Note: Qpdf2 just works if you start it with the option "-d 0"
You can edit your dsktop file and modify it:
Code: [Select]
"Exec=qpdf" to "Exec=qpdf -d 0"Cheers,

You can pass flags in the Exec line now?

Help, my stylus doesnt have a right button!

I think the left button broke off of it too, so maybe Im just too rough on it.
How do you edit the .desktop file without diving into an editor?  Or is this just to add arguments to the Exec line?

(I should probably go read the release notes again)
