Sl-5000d Mods. Can Ram Be Upgraded?
« on: January 09, 2005, 10:42:05 am »
I have access to surface mount extraction tools and have yanked parts off boards before (pulled 68030 off my Atari Falcon motherboard to upgrade it to a Centek Turbo II a few years ago) so I'm wondering if the SL-5000D hardware would "like" bigger RAM chips.

Anyone have access the the schematics (or knowledge if is possible or not) so I can see if there are enough address lines etc.?

Thanks,

Brian

There's a thread that details the memory on the 5000d and what chips can be used to upgrade to 64M. In addition to adding memory you would have to build a custom ROM to take advantage of it.
SL 5500 Cacko 3.10 ROM 64-0, Symbol Wifi
storage on 256MB Lexar High Speed SD card
64MB/32MB CF cards for removable storage.
---------------------------------------------------------
Doing my part to keep the 5500 platform alive

Is it in this Hardware section?  I did some searches and couldn't find it.

I'm also wondering if there is a way to get to a JTAG interface on the Z or if anyone has experience running kgdb or gdbserver.

Thanks,

Brian
