Ok, No More Major Issues In Cacko 1.22?
« on: January 09, 2005, 03:44:38 pm »
OK, guys, looks like we've identified all of the major issues in 1.22 release, time to prepare the first hotfix.

What I need from those who had wireless cards, which were not identified properly is to post here what you endded up adding to the hostap_cs.conf file to get your card recognized. I will include these entris into the hotfix, so that your cards are supported without a need to tweak config files.

Another problem.
I can't use "root privilege" under Qtopia by checked "Execute with root privilege (not secure)". I can't launch the application (eg. Zeditor)

Is there a publicly accessible list?
Maybe add an option to use no wallpaper at all?

Any possibility of adding to Hotfix A (or some future release wishlist) the ability to toggle  on/off a feature that lets clamshell users make thier machine go into suspend (and exit from suspend) on the open/close of the lid?

For Example:
A. When the feature is ON open/close would cause suspend/resume respectively.
B. When feature is off the open/close would not affect the palmtop state (except to turn off display as usual).

I find it a major pain in the arse to keep hitting off when I am done using the unit, which means I often open it to find the battery is dead.  Of course for Mp3 and movie (listening) you would want to keep the unit running when closed, hence the need for a toggle.

I brought this up a long time ago in a thread here on ZUG and (as I recall) you thought it was a worthwhile idea.  So I just thought I should mention it again in hopes that it may be added to hotfix A or at least a future release of some kind.

In any case, Great Job and Thank you for all your hard work !!

Can you identify what exactly you've identified?  This is probably going to make this thread much more effective (as in, you asking if there's any other major issues - people may assume that their problem is going to be fixed).

Haven't tried 1.22 yet myself, but plan on doing so soon.  Good work, thanks :-)

Hi,

let's go back to what was asked:

I had to change the hostap_cs.conf for my D-link DCF-660W to be recognised as such. There was already an entry for a similar card and it would probably have worked with the original file but my Z reported my card to be a "Zcomax XI-325H 200mW" and I didn't like that. For both cards there was the same vendor id.
I commented out the Zcomax entry and removed the comment on the vendor id of the D-Link card and added a comment to the version in the same block. The version is what is reported on my card but it didn't work wihout commenting out. The result is:

#----
card "D-Link DCF-660 11Mbps WLAN Card"
# version "D-Link", "DCF-660W", ""
 manfid 0xd601, 0x0005
 bind "hostap_cs"
#----

Hi, i have a socket CF bluetooth card. I try to use my motorola v525 phone as a modem va BT with GPRS. In the network settings, the z (c-760) finds my phone with bluetooth, and that's all. I cannot make a pair. I read some howtos, they all use the btctl binary, and i have no such thing, i didn't want to setup anything like this, because on the homepage i read that it should work out of the box. What can i do to make a pair of those devices? (Enter pin code on the Z, than the phone ask me to enter, only then the phone accept modem commands via BT).

It's easiest to initiate pairing from the phone. Use the menu option on your phone to add a bluetooth device. The phone should discover the Zaurus (and any other BT devices in range). In the phone's menus, select the Zaurus as the device to add. The phone should prompt you for a PIN ... use "1234" (the BlueZ default) and the pairing should complete.

Hi,

the most critical fix for me would be the battery charging issue (on SL-C860).

My SL-C860 is brand new and I don't want to overcharge the battery.
On the other hand, is it already known what happens in that case ?
Is the battery still charging (with the risk of destroying it), when the LED is on ?
What is the risk of loading it more than 4 hours ?

When you create a new BT GPRS on Zaurus and start to connect, then the phone should aask you the PIN code, which is 1234. After that Zaurus and your phone will pair.  At least this is how it works with my phone.

I've already sent a notice to the guy, whochupdated battery driver for me.
However this seems to be a strange issue though. I've noticed that a couple of times on my own Zaurus, but after that both of my Zs charge just fine with out any problems.

Maybe you should let it charge for a few hours and then next time you charge it will work as normal...

mavlovsky: the phone doesn't ask for pin code, maybe, because it can be initialized with the standard atz. I am not very familiar with bluetooth, but for palmos, i wrote a chatscript with the proper init strings to make my phone connect. Where can i put it on my Z?
