Sharp ROMs / Differences Between Tk Rom Versions?

I have been using happily the TK ROM v 1 in my SL5500. What do I gain from using v2 alpha3?

I have also read this latest version allows to prep /home in SD. How do I do that?

(obvious newbie question..... my apologies).

I don't have time at present, but if you're interested I can let you know my methods.  I have been happily running my 5500 with:
- tkcROM v2 alpha 3
- special zImage from derekp that speeds up SD/MMC reads
- home on sd
- Socket BT Modem Rev G

The combo is killer.  I've used (and still use) my 5500 often despite having a 760.  With my bluetooth card, I'll usually leave about 10-15 web pages up and occassionally refresh the pages (blogs and such) to read later when offline.  With the home on sd you end up with a 20MB swap file that can handle that load.

I couldn't say for the 3000 in particular, but for the 5500 and the c760, the socket bluetooth (rev. G) works like a charm and it cannot be stated how great it is that it does not stick out of slot.  I can leave it in like memory without ever thinking about it, but it in its case, etc.  

Highly recommended.

Sharp ROMs / SL 5500 TCK ROM 2.0 Alpha 3 +Sahrp media player

With the same rom version I used mplayer with the mplayer shell program (looks exactly like the sharp media player) and the xmms shell for music (looks exactly like winamp with different skins).  

I would suggest doing the same, as I had problems with the sharp media player as well.

It's been a while since I grabbed the files that I use so I don't have links handy, but I can get the versions for each that I've gotten working if you're interested.

The sandisk reports are HORRIBLE, no wonder they are always on sale.

One thing to note with those Sandisk cards is that I think that list is dated, and the latest ones seem to work better.  It may be telling though, that many of those that complained about Sandisk cards were using cards around the time of those reviews!

My Sandisk 256 card is from China with the code AR0310NC, which is later than the list.  The closest numbers in that list and their corresponding compatibility:

Here\'s a nice case that I bought that allows you to achieve this (leave the cxxx in portrait mode):

It adds a little bulk to the pda (cxxx fits snug/perfect, though) and it has an extremely soft interior for screen protection.  Add a screen protector and there you go...

\"if they care then I do\" and I\'ll have to see what they come up with. I have one acid test though: whether or not they will have someone actually interacting with us. If not, they can forget it.  

 
The only problem with this is that you don\'t know that they will continue to care tomorrow!  They seemed to really care about the community, they had Spencer working with the community, and suddenly they decided to go another route - namely, all that WE had contributed to their site would suddenly be removed with no warning.  I could see them pulling a jeckyl/hyde again VERY easily.

I absolutely reward trustworthiness.  Not only is this site trustworthy, the webmaster/mods are open to the point of self-deprecating humor.  You gotta love that!   I can certainly relate.  No matter what they offer on their site, they won\'t get me (or anyone else I\'d bet) back.  So much good info went down with that ship needlessly...

the absense of ka/pi is all that has kept me from ko/pi. No real point in ko/pi (for me) if I still have to use qtopia for half my synking.

Great site!  Good timing as well; I know it was around for a while before DevNet sunk into oblivion, but for me it was like you pulled your boat up and layed the drawbridge down just as the bubbles were rising...

Glad to see that you\'ve cornered the market.  Hopefully it\'s the start of a long and bright future for ZUG!

In the end it wasn\'t going to be that cheap @ £150, so I decided against taking the impulse.  

 
Must agree - that amount plus your 5500 is TOO much IMO.  I guess \"cheap\" is a relative term and we all drew our conclusions on different definitions...
