Software / KOrganizer / KO/Pi (KOrganizer Platform independent)
« on: July 22, 2004, 09:32:18 am »
I recently had a problem syncing to outlook that turned out to be corrupted calendar files.  Mikew had a similar problem and believed it was due to KO/Pi DTM sync corrupting the files.  I managed to fix the sync by removing the SLDATE files and restarting calendar to create new ones, then resyncing with outlook and KO/Pi.

I'm not really sure what the problem is and I dont understand the format of the DTM file to find the bug either.

Has anyone else seen this problem?  I'm using ver 1.7.7

Windows Issues / Win 2k cannot sync with USB-tcp/ip anymore

Mike,

I'm currently using 1.7.7 which i think is the latest stable release.

Is it just the SLDATE files I need to copy, or should I just copy the whole DTM folder?

Thanks

Jason

Sharp ROMs / shaky stylus
« on: July 21, 2004, 01:24:45 pm »
I've noticed this a bit with my stock sharp rom.  i think its just an over sensitive touch screen.  If you are only pressing lightly, it seems to be worse.  If you have a screen protector, it may make it worse as your pressure will be slightly spread out by the thick layer of plastic.

If it goes away when you press harder, i think its more likely the hardware than the OS.

Yzord,  yes I am running KO/Pi. how did you know?  I tried a resync, but the problem remained.  So, I tried Mikes suggestion of renaming the files.

Mike,

thanks! I renamed the SLDATE files as suggested then restarted calender.  I then resynced with my desktop and all seemed to go well.  I decided to be brave and resync with KO/Pi, which went surprisingly well.  It seemed to accept the calender entries as updates.  One or two entries were turned in to recurring entries, but were an easy fix.  So far thats all I've noticed.  Hopefully, thats all there is to find!

I'm going to keep using KO/Pi, its too good to give up!  but i will mention it to zautrix about the corruption and hope he can fix it.

Once again, thanks everyone for helping to sort this out.  I am extremely grateful to you all.

Cheers!

Jason

Help!!

I've had my 5600 syncing for about 4 months on a Win2K PC through USB-TCP/IP connection with no problems.  now, all of a sudden, sync has failed completely.

The first time I try to sync after connecting the Zaurus, I get the following error message shortly after sync starts:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Program Error:

IS4SL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The only log file I can find is called PtTrace.log and it contains the following text:

-----------------------
Thu Jul 15 14:08:20 2004 -- Pumatech Intellisync Log File --

14:08:20.962: Begin ILX Session, Source=Microsoft Outlook, Target=Zaurus
14:08:21.382:
14:08:21.392: Starting Standard Sync
14:08:21.452: Phase=10, User=ILDATA: Reading data from Zaurus Calendar
-----------------------

If I try to sync again, then communication fails completely.

I've tried to uninstall/reinstall intellisync. no success.  I've tried the standard USB interface, no success.

Has any one else seen this?

Accessories / earphones with Wi-Fi CF Card?
« on: June 23, 2004, 09:55:41 am »
Not sure what WiFi card you have, but if its blocking the headphone socket, then I'd suggest looking for a new WiFi card that doesnt block the socket.  then you get to use your favorite headphones instead of some obscure set with a funky connector!!

The SMC card I have doesnt block the socket and it works right out of the box.  Fairly cheap too!!

Hope this helps

Software / Kismet on a SL-5600
« on: June 02, 2004, 04:04:49 pm »
You don\'t need the kismet connection setup in the Settings:Network application.  I tried that trick on my Z when I was having trouble with Kismet and it didnt work, but once I found the info in this forum to get it working properly i just deleted the network settings for kismet.

If Kismet works from the Icon, thats all you need.  Are you seeing any AP\'s during a scan?

I still have a problem running kismet from the shell. but i know why...i\'m just to busy to edit the shell script to fix it.  maybe soon!

« on: May 10, 2004, 01:12:32 pm »
Maybe, but gold plated pins are usually good at selfcleaning when inserting and extracting.  there could be other reasons too, such as pins shape and size variation between connector manufacturers....the pins on the PC could be slightly larger, and make a better contact with the dirty socket on the SMC card perhaps.

I\'m glad to hear that your problem is fixed, but would agree with you that runnning your electronic equipment through a washing machine cycle is a bit of a harsh method of cleaning them!!
