I am also having problems with the instalation files when I try to install xqt-fonts-misc_4.3.0-3_all.ipk it gaves me an error telling me that the filename of this package includes character this application can't handle. And that I need to change the filename and retry the instalation.
What can I do, plaease advice.

I just did the update and all the menus stay the same as before the update in my case english.

Meanie I just wanted to tell you that your site Rocks, I have found plenty of usefull information onhj it, thanks for it.

Hello all, once again I want to thank al of you that helped me get my Zaurus back on line, I also did a backup as suggested by you, and as addes bonus I got my Zaurus configured to use the ambicom wireless card, actually I am writing this with my Zaurus, I cant belive how a stupid thing as changeing my network name could actually get me connected, I just hope I dont run in any more problems, althougth I can count in this forun to help me out.

Thanks all for the nice reply, I confess I didn't have a backup, actually Scot has a point, I do not know how to do a backup any help in backing up my Zaurus would be appreciated.
I hope tomorrow (monday) Dynamism has an answer, I will let you all know how it went.

Thanks for the fast reply, although it looks like very bad news I was hoping to a complete recover without losing all my info.
I didn't buy my Zaurus from Trisoft, I live in Mexico so I bought it from Dynamism in the US, I sent them a mail today with the explanation of what happend, I hope they have the same recovery programm that Trisoft has.

Please, I need urgent help, I have a Z 3000 and last nigth it went dead, not dead dead but almost dead, I was just unistalling two game programs one called snake the other one called LGeneral, after the unistall It worked fine but I decided to do a reboot, just in case, after the reboot I got the time/date page and the program just kind of got hung, I could not get it to close so I try to reboot one more time without luck, so i decided to take the battery out, after I replaced the battery and tried to reboot again my problem started, I just can pass the Sharp with the japanese symbol on the bottom, in the very bottom of the screen I get a black line with a kind of the old Dos cursor ( the big rectangle) and it looks like some information is scrolling at great speed, I gave it time but could not get to pass this screen, what can I do to correct the problem, I am a new Zaurus user and I have no a clue to what to do, please help me.
I am using ROM V 1.01 JP, Qtopia V 1.5.4, Linux kernel V 2.4.20
I have searched all the topics in this forum without any answer that can help me.

General Discussion / Which Rom To Use? Which Is Best? Why?

Can you overwrite the ROM in your handheld with another, or do you have to uninstall the ROM in your handheld and then install the new one.
If I am not a developer (yet) do I need to change Rom or I can do just fine with what I have, why do I will want to change ROM's, I am using ROm V 1.01 JP and Qtopia V 1.5.4.

General Discussion / New At Zaurus Forum And Zaurus

HI, I am from Mexico and are very glad to have found this forum.
I purchased my Zaurus 3000 about 2 months ago and I am enjoying it very much, but I want to really take advantage ao all its features but as I stated before I am new in the Zaurus world and have a few questions I hope all the Zaurus experts can answer for me,
What's is the ROM? what does it do? I have ROM V 1.01 JP, can you upgrade this application? how? whre can I get them?
What is Qtopia? what does it do? I have V 1.5.4
I also have the Linux kernel V 2.4.20 compiled by Lineo.
What is cacko? I have hear that the Zaurus is good for developers, to develop what? How can I learn to develop anything in the Zaurus? Is there any good starter book for developers? users?
I am using it as a PDA only, contacts, addresses, meetings, etc. to play a few games, and that is it.
I have read in this forum that there are a lor of diferent ROMS, Linux kernels and applications for the Zaurus to make it work better, Which one of the ROMS are the best and wich kernel is the best.
Can anybody sugest what are the must have upgrades in hardware and software, I have a ambicom wifi card that I have not been able to conect to the internet, but besides that can you recommend any other improvement.

I just finished reading it, and  I really enjoy it, actually I loved it, great thriller, I just could not puttin it down, I loved how he integrated the Zaurus, I recommend this book to all.

Security and Networking / Wifi Not Working

HI, this is my first post and I need help, I have a C 3000 and purchased an Ambicom WL 1100C-CF, I am a first time user  and a novice in the Zaurus PDA, my problem is:
The first time I hooked the card worked perfectly and I could surf the web, I dont know what happend but the next time I conected it stoped working, when I press the conect button the ligth in the card blinks a few times and I get a message that says network offline, I dont know why it does that, could it be possible that I changed the configuration without knowing, can someone please tell what is the rigth way to configure it. I rebooted  at the request of Dynamism and it did not help also.
Is there an instruction page on where I can fallow it step by step.
I am using Qtopia V 1.5.4, Linux kernel V 2.4.20, ROM V 1.01 JP
