Cosmo Communicator - Android / Maximum possible DPI

I changed it from 375 to 450 in developer options and display became sharper, altough text became smaller. Just wondering is there a hardware/physical limit to what maximum value can be safely set without creating any issues?

No need to go into dev mode use below

 shift+fn+C/V changes the zoom level/dpi

Gemini PDA - Sailfish OS / unlocking the screen?
« on: June 26, 2018, 06:28:39 am »
You did not start the setup process by selecting a language, I'm guessing.
I had the same issue, turns out your device cannot be unlocked when you don't get the 'Select a language'-screen.

FIX:
1) Reflash linux.img and salfishos_boot.img
2) Boot into Sailfish, hold device in portrait mode ('Esc'-button on bottom)
3) Wait a few seconds for screen to go black, hit 'Fn + Esc' (power combo)
4) It should now show the 'Select a language screen'.
5) Start setup from there, it will boot into Sailfish OS afterwards.

Lockscreen might still be a revolving circle, but it will be dismissable by swiping from the left.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Repairing the rubber strip?
« on: June 02, 2018, 11:11:11 pm »

Reviewers reported it happening to them and now it's happened to me: The rubber strip on the top/hinge bottom of my Gemini has begun to pull loose. There's a series of holes into which it was apparently once anchored, but it defies efforts to reinsert it. Anyone else encountered this? What did you do about it?

Was your unit from the first batch or second batch? If it was first batch i can only think the glue used was not strong enough. Then in second batch they must have used a stronger bonded glue.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Bricked it in record time :(

Hi

My Gemini arrived today, I unpacked it and started it up. During the setup I set a PIN, before getting on with installing stuff. I didn't set my Google account (because the plan is to run the Gemini without a Google account).

I left the Gemini for a while and the screen locked itself, as expected. I swiped up to unlock, entered the PIN, and got the 'Wrong PIN' message. I know the PIN I believe I entered, bit it looks like I had identical  finger troubles in the enter PIN and confirm PIN boxes.

Tried the fastboot, using Esc and Side keys, bit I just get the 'No command' screen

Tried attaching it to my laptop (a McBook Air) and running adb, but no joy.

So I now have a very expensive brick, and feel very stupid. Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed from here? Am I going to have to try and get the flash tool to build under Mac OS?

I will be very grateful for any help with this.

Pete
Why don’t you get the flashtool setup and just simply reflash it with the correct scatter file.

I found this use full info below if anyone does manage to get it and want to take it for a spin.

Installing Sailfish
It's now in "closed beta". Don't ask me where to download it from. Hopefully it will be public soon. Here are the steps to install it in it's current form:

Install Android + Linux image, set up Debian (at least run resize2fs if you don't run the full script)
Make a backup of linux_boot: sudo dd of=linux-boot.img if=/dev/disk/by-partlabel/linux_boot
Download the sailfish .zip file to Android's Download directory. For some reason TWRP didn't find it if i just copied it to Android filesystem via Debian. MicroSD card should also work.
Boot TWRP.
Select the .zip from Downloads and install.
Power off and boot to Linux. Sailfish should start. The tutorial is a bit broken but you should get past it.
In Sailfish make a backup of linux_boot: dd of=sailfish-boot.img if=/dev/disk/by-partlabel/linux_boot
Switching between Sailfish and Debian
Overwrite the linux_boot partition with image you made earlier. For example to get from Sailfish to Debian, use dd if=linux-boot.img of=/dev/disk/by-partlabel/linux_boot
