Cosmo Communicator - Android / Phone locking when closing lid

We don't have the delay lock setting in the security settings, but only the normal sleep delay (settings --> display). You could try with a third application, or with the finger sensor of the phone (I have not tried it).

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / How do I remove the hinge?

I have paid for normal postage to London from Europe, so it costs 9 Euro. They told me that they would fund me back, but actually I don't care. They pay for the back postage. I don't know what you mean with 'arrange the pickup'. I brought my cosmo to the post office, and got it back by DPD.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Google Maps on CODI
« on: February 10, 2020, 08:40:05 am »
Solved in my case: you have to enable the notifications in google maps (settings --> apps and notifications --> Maps --> turn notifications on). The little location icon remains shown as not activated (on CODI on the top left of the screen), but I can live with it.

Do you mean: you want to lock your phone with your keyboard, but when you close your phone, you want that CODI remains unlocked? F.ex. I have locked my phone with a pattern. When my phone is open, and when it becomes locked after say 5 min., I have to trace the pattern with my finger on the display in order to unlock it. When I am closing the phone, the security immediately applies, and CODI is also locked. In my use case, I have not found any way to keep CODI unlocked while my phone is locked.

They tell you: "If you are confident with doing this yourself" -- if you are not, send it back to PC. I have sent mine back, and it has been sent to me four to five weeks after. PC is not very active at the moment, which should have to do with the Coronavirus flue, but they can repair or replace your phone in London provided that they have enough stock there. I won't be put myself at risk by doing it by myself, and would return the device.

Cosmo Communicator - Android / No vibration from screen touches
« on: January 31, 2020, 02:15:18 am »

Hi,

Not sure if I'm just missing an obscure setting, but I have lost haptic feedback from screen presses.

I have vibration turned on under Settings>Accessibility>[Interaction Controls]>Vibration>Touch Vibration>On
and also under Settings>Sound>Advanced>[Other sounds and vibrations]>Touch vibration>On

I am getting haptic feedback from all other functions such as keyboard and fingerprint sensor, but not for screen presses,

I have the latest firmware (V19) & CODI (1.1.1.13) updates successfully installed.

Any ideas?

My experience is that only the three buttons (triangle, square, dot) on the right vibrate -- not the entire display.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Google Maps on CODI

Has anybody been able to figure out how to keep Location services running for Google Maps when using the latest CODI update (v1.1.1.13) for the new CODI navigation feature?

Google Maps notifies it has 'lost the GPS signal',  once I close the unit for CODI navigation. Restarting location services from the CODI does not appear to get Google Maps back in the saddle...

There definitely seems to be a problem with the location button/function and codi -- mine works when the case is closed but the location icon shows up as 'location not activated', and that's probably why I am not seeing maps on codi, I am only hearing the voice of the gps. There are similar problem with functions for media players (other ones that google ones); all in all, it seems that codi behave inconsistently (from app to app, from phone to phone).

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Not another Cover Display Thread!

- some functions are not useful -- when you get an email or a whatsapp message, you can see it on codi which is good, but you can not answer the message with the case closed, you have to open it -- so, remove this function from codi; the same for the function enabling the 'mark as read' or 'remove', which do not mark messages as read or remove them

i disagree with email at least. i use the delete function from gmail from the cover display all the time. very useful.

Then it is inconsistent behaviour, because I can't get email removed from codi on my google email app., and it is just the same with airmail. The functions for codi should scale for every kind of app you want to install on the cosmo which codi would handle. You can not have some functions working with some app., not working with other ones, or working with some cosmo and not for other ones.

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Agenda App no Google caledar
« on: January 24, 2020, 02:25:49 am »
I experience the same, which force me to deactivate the Agenda app. I am taking the opportunity of this thread to put some other software related issues in perspective:

- Agenda: rings randomly at each event -- the last two days, I was woken up by the Agenda app in the middle of the night
- Refreshing rate of the screen while changing the background image: if you put a new image in the background (wallpaper), you won't have it displayed correctly, you have to restart the cosmo
- App-Bar: if you add or remove items from the App-Bar, it won't show up afterwards, you also have to restart the device
- Distorted display in camera apps: this is related to the App-Bar I think, since when you have added or removed items from the App-Bar, it won't show up anymore, and if you intend to use your camera, you will get a distorted image on the display forcing you to restart the cosmo
- Ledison: has to run as background daemon not popping up at each alert message

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Not another Cover Display Thread!
« on: January 24, 2020, 02:09:28 am »
I am using this thread because this post is related to the content discussed here -- it remains a lot to do in order to have a more or less pleasant experience with codi. After the last update, their remains icons which do not behave correctly and some which have to be improved. My wish-list to the devs:

- better handling of the localization symbol on codi -- with my cosmo and the last update, my localization symbol is 'off' all the time no matter what I am doing, even if it is actually 'on' when I open my cosmo; this might be related to a problem regarding the actualization/refresing of the symbol on codi, and prevent me to use the gps with my cosmo closed (nothing shows up on codi, only the voice of the gps)

- better handling of default applications: particularly with media players, it is impossible to use the buttons back/forward/pause/play if you are using another media player than what google provides

- less sensitivity of symbols functions: would prevent to activate airplane mode for example just by putting your cosmo into your pocket -- something like a longer press should do the trick

These would be the minimum to do in order to make codi more usable.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Media players in Cover Display
« on: January 19, 2020, 05:32:17 pm »
actually, it seems {to me} logical to enable the user to write one structured file like:

[media player]

that awsome media player

...

which could be scanned by a function in codi -- a simple file open read thing based on condition if present elif-- in order for the user to have active control of its own media player from codi -- it would be pretty useful, also for other apps. Codi has really to be improved with user likings in mind. By now, it is rather a proof of concept which would work for stock apps.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Front mic muted while closing cosmo
« on: January 11, 2020, 12:12:07 pm »
so, it seems that my Cosmo is on its way back to me after a repair at PC. It has taken 5 weeks, which is ok given that we have celebrations in between. I shall see now, if the problem with muted mic has been solved, and then I can make more test from a practical user viewpoint. I wanted an all in one solution, let us see if the cosmo brings it -- I will open another thread for that.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Mouse for Cosmo

the usb-c at the bottom of the phone where you have the silver metallic button should work for this. You can also buy the adapter for the cosmo for peripherals.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Andronix brings Linux to the Cosmo

It depends on what are your needs, because Termux works without rooting and is as such pretty useful for development and other text or spreadsheet tasks at the price of changing some habits in order to adapt to the command line. You can even install a LAMP stack without rooting your phone, not bad.
