Thanks Tombraider!

It is long, takes time (to enter a bunch of dictionaries) but it works!

I am having a lot of trouble with zBedic finding my dictionaries.  I have tried several of the suggestions from various newsgroups.  From Settings & selecting the Dictionaries tab I select "Search for new dictionaries" and the search comes up empty.  The manual suggests clicking on dictionary files in the FileManager - that does not work.  One suggestion was to individually add each dictionary (with complete path) to zbedic.conf in the Settings directory (it works for one dictionary but for 2 this crashes).  I have tried using the command line but that does not work.  I tried using the 0.9.5 version with oz-compat & that does not work.

I keep my dictionaries in /mnt/card/home/root/Documents/applications/zbedic & I have linked to this directory in practically every directory older versions of zBedic searched for directory files.

What am I doing wrong???

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Wireless Problems
« on: March 23, 2005, 12:48:55 am »
I use an Ambicon WL-1100C.  I connect to DSL through my wireless router.       I seem to remember disabling all security on my router and then establishing a connection using wlan0.  I believe wifi0 does nothing from the users point of view.  For this I used checked the DHCP and "Automatically Bring Up"  boxes in TCP/IP.

Once you have your unsecure connection working turn on WEP (it seems that 3.5.2 is only able to use WEP 64-bit, I may be wrong).   I had to explicity state my IP address, subnet & gateway in the TCP/IP settings.  Once I restarted the network I had to eject the wireless card, pull it out and reinsert it and my connection worked with WEP.

The extraction & re-insertion of the card probably restarted the interfaces and there may be a nifty script out there that does the same thing, but until I search & find it, this is what I did.

Maybe there is a logical explanatio why all this works.  Check around the newsgroup.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hentges Rom & Zsafe
« on: March 23, 2005, 12:02:14 am »
Well, after finally being able to delete to opie-zsafe (1.1.8) from the Hentges ROM and installing the older version opie-zsafe (1.1.7) I seem to have zsafe working.

I installed the latest Hentges ROM & zsafe will not work.  Pop-up says that zsafe cannot be found & I have not been able to uninstall and install the older opie-zsafe v1.1.7.

Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

Thanks

Security and Networking / Help! Wifi Not Working!

Disable WEP on your wifi router.
Enable SSID broadcast on your router.

Once you have the Z working with the unprotected router then start enabling the security stuff on the router.

This worked for me Zaurus SL5500 and Ambicon CF wifi.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.2 - Problems, Fixes, Questions
« on: December 16, 2004, 03:22:32 pm »
Figured out the syncing issues:

1.  Need to link /home/root to /root (like Oz3.5.1)
2.  Use Opie instead of Intellisync in the sync dropdown in Security.

Thanks

First, Coredump thank you for a great image.

Second, why does the usb-ethernet so flaky.  It seems a hit or miss when I connect via usb to my W2k system.  Also, if I am trying to sync with Intellisync in the security settings  I get ~50 pop-ups on my Z about allowing or denying unauthorized connections (I also have accept sync from any selected).  With Opie selected I don't get the annoying pop-ups but the sync does not seem to work consistently.

Any ideas, help, etc would be appreciated.

Thanks

Neocal works.  You need to use the oz-compat library.  To install oz-compat you need to have opie-sh installed also.  I also had opie-reader working using oz-compat libraries.

There sometimes seems to be a screw-up with displaying files using opie-reader and also justreader (also using oz-compat) but I usually can get things working again by playing with the setup (although I have not figured out exactly gets the file displayed correctly).

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Senao Wireless CF card and OZ opie 3.5.1

I have used a D-link card and my current Ambicon WL1100C-CF both worked.  You have to use wlan0.

Do a search of the OpenZaurus forum.

Thank you MrSquishy!

The colored buttons are so much better than the bland blue.

OZ3.5.1  seems to work well for me as far as the PIM applications - much better than 3.2 (I couldn't stand 3.3.6pre1).  I have ZBEDic  & Hancomsheet working with the oz-compat libraries.

However, I am having difficulty getting some programs to work:
1. Justreader:  Are people using the new version in the unstable feed (2.0k) or the old version (2.0i) with oz-compat?
2. Opera works with oz-compat libraries, but I don't get the icons appearing in the icon bar.
3.  I have not been able to get Hancomword to install (using v1.4.4).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Justreader on OPIE/OZ 3.5.1
« on: October 20, 2004, 02:09:59 pm »
I have tried installing the older version of Justreader & using the ozcompat libraries and the version included in the feed without much success.

Any useful hints?

All I seem to get is a really, really tiny graphic (or something) in the upper left corner.

Regards

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Invalid magic
« on: May 27, 2004, 04:01:44 pm »
Using OZ3.2 after playing around with OZ3.3.6pre1 (just decided to wait for OpenEmbedded) and am now finding the following error when trying to reinstall programs that used to work before:

   Dealing with package xxx
   ipkg: Invalid magic
ipkg: *** Couldn\'t kill old gunzip process*** aborting loading conf file /etc/ipkg.conf

I believe that \"Invalid magic\" is due to not having certain libraries loaded.  But I am trying to load packages that just need the already installed required libraries.

BTW, I may have given up on OZ3.3.6pre1 too early, but there needs to be a decent HOW-TO on migrating from OZ3.2 to the new ROM including how to use the Hancom Apps.

Thanks

John
