Zaurus - pdaXrom / Can Someone Compile This?
« on: February 27, 2006, 09:27:02 am »
Chero
I have had the best luck with the SuSE source.  Four functions seem to be the most Trouble, 1 in command.c and 3 in etc.c.  Hope that info helps.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Can Someone Compile This?

I just don't have the expertise to compile this:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sagcad

Has some nice features and looks good but somehow I just can't seem to get it to compile into a program.

Cxx0 Hardware / C760 Charging Problem
« on: December 29, 2005, 09:42:53 pm »
My Z took to NOT charging.  Sometimes the charge light would be on and sometimes not, either way battery would not charge in C760.  Same battery would charge in 5500 after cutting nose off to do a charge test.  After MUCH looking I found that power connection on C760 was very slightly loose on the inside back.  Tacking case apart I found that the inside lead on the back of the connector was not solidered in very well and the solider had come loose from the wire.  This could only be seen on the underside of the board (held in place by four black flat head screws on my unit) as that is the side which is solidered.  Used SMALL iron and a VERY TINY amount of additional solider and my C760 now works JUST LIKE NEW.  This post is just a hint of direction for others who can pinpoint that they have the same problem however BE VERY CAREFUL if you attempt the same fix as these boards are VERY easily damaged with either too much HEAT or SOLIDER, use care and proceed AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I like it.  Works well but does start key repeats too easily.

Thanks

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Live Cd
« on: August 19, 2005, 08:27:45 am »

Laze
I can hardly wait for a "end-developer" LiveCD if it is already set up with a complete cross compiling enviroment!  I think that this would open the ability to compile programs for many of us novice linux "programers".  Personally I would like this MORE than a new release of the rom (however I won't complain which ever comes first if the CD doesn't take too long).

A small PC with a 2 or 3 gig hd. setup like I have seems to compile VERY fast.  If cross compiling is even close to what the current CD can do I suspect almost everyone will be happy with it.

Jim

PS  Thanks for all the work you guys have done and are planning for as NO other rom has worked as well on my C760 (Including the orginal as it came new).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Live Cd
« on: August 16, 2005, 11:15:01 pm »
I was hoping that the live CD would be an easy cross compiler.  I had tried to setup one on my Linux box without much sucess.  Compiling was filled with errors and as a linux programing novice I didn't understand how to deal with them.  Live CD seems to compile without any errors, creating programs.  When I copy these to my C760 they will NOT run (cannot execute errors).  Live CD sets itself up in computer memory as read only.  I can't get Live CD to even try to run the programs because of the read only status of its path directories.  Any ideas how to solve which cpu these should run on.

Does anyone know if compiling with the Live CD creates arm programs by default or do we have to do something special?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Roadmap For Pdaxrom
« on: December 08, 2004, 07:37:22 am »
Redid zip file with just roadmap and its files (left out flite).

I unzip and copy files to correct directory on Zaurus (may need to create them).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Roadmap For Pdaxrom
« on: December 07, 2004, 12:35:07 pm »
I have a Zip file with roadmap and flite software which will work!  Pascal Martin compiled this for us to share, maybe someone could make it into a ipk.  It is just under 4 meg. which is too large to attach here.  Does someone have a place I can send it for others to download?  This is for maps of USA only, same maps as the Qtopia version that was on the Sharp site last year.  Screen rotation works, etc.  It is missing two icon in the gps status module but still works.  When we have a site to share from just unzip and copy the files into the same directory on your Zaurus, (make the directories if they are not there).  I have only used this with a CF GPS.

Could somebody re-compile the patience /  solitare game we once had for the new RC5 rom.   It has not worked since RC3 came out.  I played that often when I had to wait somewhere for a appointment.

Thanks,
Jim

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Compact Flash GPS
« on: September 26, 2004, 07:54:09 am »

The brand is Transplant, which is similiar to most CF gps units as best I can tell.  I am using a verison of RoadMap from the familiar X11 with three files Pascal Martin compiled for me.  I uses the same maps as the Qtopia version which Lucho was packaging it for us on the old Sharp Dev. site  (limited to the US I think).  Took a lot of effort to get working, (never did with RC2).

I love to show off my Zaurus (760) running RoadMap with flite anounceing the current roads and approaching roads as I drive to my friends.

If someone could take the familiar X11 ipk and the files I have had changed and repackage them into a ipk I would be glad to share.

I had this device working in RC 2 but can't seem to get it to work in RC 3.

Socket 0
Product Info: "Transplant GPS", D157N", "S2", ""

Where (what file) do I add this information to?
