Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker / Zaurus Is Dead .... Long Living Zaurus Aka Pc-z1
« on: August 28, 2009, 07:07:51 am »
I have an HTC Advantage 7501 which has a 5 inch screen, HSDPA, bluetooth, wifi etc. The only problems are that the keyboard is lousy and the OS is windows mobile. Now i know that Japan doesnt make the same 3g devices that can run in europe (or usa) but atleast bluetooth could have solved the problem.
The UMID M1 seems to be a competitor but with a different architecture.

is that also true for c860. The reason I'm asking is that I'm not sure if the hardware supports it. is there also a size limit like 4GB, 8GB etc.

just a hard reset wont do, you need to install a rom again. google for cacko rom and install it on your client's zaurus. cacko rom provides the best compatibility to the original sharp rom with lots of new features.
alternately you can do a nand restore.  you can get the nand restore file here http://downloads.conics.net/pda/zaurus-sl-...iginal-backups/

are you using the older gcc 2.95 or a newer gcc compiler.
i would suggest using a newer compiler since compiling many apps will be easier

Software / The 2.6.23 Kernel
« on: October 24, 2007, 01:16:01 pm »
what doesnt work in the 2.6 kernels. i used the sharp rom, then tried pdaxrom beta 1 for a while, then tried pdaxrom r192 and that wasnt so good at that time. What is the status these days. OZ (Angstrom) and  pdaxrom have both moved to 2.6 kernels.
What works in the 2.4 kernels that doesnt work in 2.6 and vice versa. I have a c860.

Software / Gpsp Gba Emulator For Cacko/sharp Roms
« on: October 21, 2007, 01:49:16 pm »
Who wants a near full speed and very playable GBA emulator for the Sharp Roms. Suhami(is that his name?) compiled the original gpsp for pdaxrom and I ported it to the sharp rom (http://www.suhami.net/ez/?page_id=7).
It needed a compiler upgrade, the 2.95 gcc is not up to the task of compiling anything anymore.
Gpsp since it is made for the psp and then ported to gp2x has very good arm assembly optimisation for near full speed play. I have tried many games and most of them are very playable.
I am including the executable in this post as well as the script needed to play it in zemu frontend. I have modified Suhami's code to change the key bindings to
(L,R,Down,Up,Left,Right,Start,Select,B,A) => (SDLK_a,SDLK_s,SDLK_DOWN,SDLK_UP,SDLK_LEFT,SDLK_RIGHT,SDLK_q,SDLK_w,SDLK_z,SDLK_
)
If you dont like these keys suhami aslo mentions in his website and i checked his code that you can use the environment variable GPSPKEYS as shown below to use your favorite keys.

GPSPKEYS= L,R,Down,Up,Left,Right,Start,Select,B,A
$ export GPSPKEYS=303,120,274,273,276,275,13,32,306,308

I am sorry not to ipk it but maybe someone can do it for me... and oh yes you need libsdl for it.
