Ubuntu / Stupid Question But
« on: June 07, 2009, 11:50:08 am »
Realising this is a comunity effort so rather than having a winge that such and such app isnt available, I thought it might be an idea to see if we can get some people together to add to the zubuntu feeds.

I have no idea where to start but it sounds like some of the people in the forum do.  So If anyone has some time to post up a howto then we might be able to get everything thats posible to package packaged and then we will all benefit.

I'm assuming we would need to either cross compile on a PC (gulp) or download source and compile on the Z (slow)

Comments / abuse / howto's welcome

C

(posted from my C1000 running ZUBUNTU rc1 and Dillo)

PS one of the things that makes UBUNTU so usable is not so much that its any better than any other distro, its more that there is user friendly documentation everywhere you look.

Ubuntu / Post Install Tweeks
« on: June 04, 2009, 01:43:29 pm »
Having installed ZUBUNTU for the first time, here are some bits that people might find of use

after loging in the first time run

ts_calibrate

to calibrate your touch screen

run killall tskeys

to get some free memory

ensure dhcp is running properly by changing the 102 and 103 entries for dhcp in /etc/passwd to 0

get your wifi / network running by looking on the forums

once you have internet connectivity, install synaptic so you can find packages with

apt-get install synaptic

now you're ready to rock

Software / Slc1000 As A Wireless Print Server
« on: June 02, 2009, 06:00:13 pm »
OK

My problem

My Printer is on one side of what used to be my office but now is a landing as we have extended the house.  As my phone and wireless router is stuck on the other side of the hall I've been looking at setting the printer up using wireless but then I thought hm I have a C1000 that isnt getting much use at the moment and my printer is USB

So the question is will the Z be able to be setup as a print server connecting to my WIFI router and the printer over USB?

I would not need to print from the Z just pass the printstream on to the USB from a static IP address

Any pointers ROM version / Packages / configs welcome

Cheers

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Lib Sdl Rotation Issue On C1000 C3x00
« on: August 08, 2007, 07:35:15 am »
If you are getting the cursor keys rotated in the game you are playing in screen magnifiex mode (320x240) edit the script that is run by the icon

eg: /home/QTPalmtop/bin/heretic-demo

and add these lines near the top of the script (not the first line)

export SDL_KEY_ROTATION=0
export SDL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION=0

if this doesnt fix things try using 1 instead

let me know how you get on

Cheers

General Discussion / Scheduled Email Pull
« on: July 13, 2007, 06:25:08 pm »
I have a 750 running CACkO 1.23 the question is how do I schedule email pulls with a blue tooth dial up phone setup (connection is already working). I use QTmail as a mail client, and everything works manually, but I would like to setup a scheduled connect, pull email, disconnect so I can pick up email every 1/2 an hour or so.

Is this doable?

Cheers

Sharp ROMs / Bluetooth/cacko Plug And Play
« on: March 19, 2007, 12:21:49 pm »
Having spent many a night trying to get bluez working on my 5500 under SHARP 3.10 I was realy happy to plug in my bluetooth card, send a file to my Z from my phone and view the file by just using the Beam Receive application on Cacko 1.23 Lite and hitting the start button. No mess , no fuss all plug and play.....

Of course I only tried this after an hour of looking up bluez commands and poking into my phone to see what bluetooth profiles it gave.

Somtimes its the easy option that works.

General Discussion / C750
« on: January 13, 2007, 06:19:12 pm »
Had my C750 for a while but Im getting the feeling its not going to last for much longer.

First the battery didnt keep charge so Iv bought a new one which is great.  but I have not been able to use sound reliably for some time with either the speaker or headphones.

Now the enter and arrow keys are unresponsive and dont work most of the time.

Anyone got any similar problems and more to the point is there anything I can do to get the keyboard back to speck.

Cheers
