People are stupid.  Read the indiegogo cosmo forums for a taste.     I really hope that specific demographic doesn't find its way here in droves.  We've already suffered a few now and in the gemini days.

Ah yeah - it's called "Eternal September", and invariably happens when something gets a little popular;)

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Camera

Great info Daniel, and good spot on that. You also taught me a lot about how raw camera sensors work, thanks for that! Will definitely see how things play out, I'm certain that this can be improved vastly to produce a much better 12mp or lower image.

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Camera
« on: December 10, 2019, 05:34:40 am »
The camera is passable, but it is quite mediocre compared to high-end smartphone cameras. I ran a quick comparison between it and my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and the difference is quite striking. Despite the Cosmo having double the resolution of the iPhone, the iPhone pics are brighter and a LOT crisper. I plan on experimenting a little with some other camera apps to see if I can eek a bit more out of the camera, but this is reasonable for now.

Full size iPhone shot is here, and the full size Cosmo shot is here, and I've attached them as well. To give you a better idea of the clarity difference, here is a close-up of the same area on the iPhone and Cosmo shots:

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Scam?

Just read through that site - it sounds like Janko was thrown into things after fundraising was complete and two founders left. There was probably only so much he could do. Given that the Gemini was successful, and I have both of my Cosmos in front of me (and they're amazing), it seems weird to continue to punish him for a failed business venture.

Also, fundraising through sites like Indiegogo or KickStarter is like investing in a company, it's NOT like buying a product. If you invest $500 in a company and they go bankrupt that's a risk you take. If you buy a product on eBay for $500, and they don't deliver it to you, then you have a legal claim you can make. I don't understand how people don't seem to understand this.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Andronix brings Linux to the Cosmo
« on: December 10, 2019, 03:23:17 am »
The problem with UserLAnd, Andronix, Termux, etc. is that they all use PRoot, which is already expensive from a performance perspective. This means that your battery life is worse, and there are limitations. Given the portability of the device I'd much rather dual-boot into Linux as and when I need to.
