Zaurus - pdaXrom / Displaying A Java Applet

Hi,

I have installed jamvm, classpaths, firefox, perl and the gcj java plugin which works with firefox. I also have gcjappletviewer available as part of the plugin. I have tried some test applets and they seem to load, but the functionality does not seem correct.

My question is how do I display a java applet on a http server without using the overhead of firefox. I would ideally like to be able to pass the appletview the address of the html page, which just has the applet on it, or even just the applet itself. How would I go about doing this? Can I run jamvm directly to display an applet window?

Please excuse my ignorance of java, i haven't done very much with it.

Hi,

I have my USB network setup to my work PC, and the network card bridged to my desktops ethernet card using windows XP bridge.  It can ping everything, and connect to the internet and resolve DNS.

Unfortunately, it won't resolve local server names even though my PC does. Any ideas guys?

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Site Access Denied - By Cybersense Guard

Hi all,

I recently started working for a great company, however this is the only website that i can't access and it really annoys me. I've just been sitting through 40 index pages catching up!

I can access the website by putting in the ip address instead of the dns, but this only allows me to go one page at a time, which is really annoying and on certain pages it doesn't seem to help. Can anyone suggest what I can do to browse by IP only?

I tryed putting it into my host file, so that the computer only ever sends the IP address request, but that does not seem to help.  Websites like the-cloak.com are obviously blocked as well, is there any way to access a mirrored version of the website or is there an alias for this dns?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, i would like to be back active in the community.

Cxx0 Hardware / C860 Battery Terminals

Hi,

The three terminals on the Lithium Ion battery are positive, ground and a thermal sensor?  Can someone please shed light on this for me? Is the thermal sensor just a thermistor connected between that pin and ground internally in the battery?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gtkboard Seg Faulting

Hi,

In previous RC releases of PDAXROM, some of the games in gtkboard would cause it to crash, but in beta 1 most of the games selecting most of the games cause segfaults... e.g. checkers...

any suggestions?

Hi all,

I have setup my brother with my old machine, which is a capable 1.5GHZ athlon with 512MB and 200GB of storage spread over three harddrives and running winxp. My dad also has a computer which is a 166MHZ / 200MHZ pentium with 64meg of ram and running windows 2000...

My brothers machine is filled with movies in divx / xvid and I will shortly be setting it up with a MPEG2 encoding card to record from our sky box...   I would really like a solution where I could transcode the divx files into mpeg 1 and play them on my dads computer over the network on our TV downstairs.

The 1.5gig should easily be able to realtime transcode to mpeg 1? I think so... I'm looking for a software solution to let me do this. I will be looking into VLC as I know it supports streaming with transcoding.  Ideally I would like to be remotely able to select the film I wanted to view and have the powerful computer automatically transcode it...

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi all,

I have been thinking of producing an hardware i/o development board for connection to the zaurus and / or a pc. This board would have the capability to connect to either machine either via the serial port or a usb port.

The main features would be:

* microcontroller based
* upto eight analogue input channels
* upto sixteen digital i/o channels
* expansion buses such as I2C and SPI for connection to external components such as EEPROMs, ADCs, DACs, RTCs, etc.
* ability to drive an LCD display
* two programmable PWM channels
* ability to update firmware on board

The applications of this board are very broad, and the exact specification are customisable to suit the needs of the end-user. A simple query based language can be used to communicate between the board and software applications such as within a C program or within Matlab.
