Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom 1.1.0r121 & Usbnet
« on: October 13, 2006, 01:41:15 pm »
I install 1.1.0r121 on my 750.
Now usbnet doesn't work.
lsmod|grep usb
usbnet 14662 0
usbcore 116300 usbnet
ifconfig usb0
usb0: error fetching interface information: Device not found

I tried even modprobe ALL modules in /lib/modules...
Doesn't help
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143919\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
check lsmod | grep g_ether to see if g_ether is loaded,

If not then modprobe g_ether.
If that fails try posting your dmesg output after you insert the usb cable.

There are no listed feeds in ikpg.conf, but since it's based on OE, I'm assuming their X11 feeds should work... I'll see
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143653\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

OE doesn't have any feeds. And note that Poky can use different ABIs by setting POKY_MODE.

Quite right, when it comes to language precision you are the master.

I meant to say the OpenZaurus X11 feeds might work...

Cheers again..

Does poky have a working graphical card applet for (un)mounting cards and turning the wifi on/off?

IMO this is OZ/GPEs current biggest failing
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143604\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
No it doesn't have the cards applet. The distro is rather bare bones, very limited setting configuration etc.

There are no listed feeds in ikpg.conf, but since it's based on OE, I'm assuming their X11 feeds should work... I'll see

As for the necessity of the cards-applet for mounting cards & handling WiFi, I haven't found that to ba an issue for me with either opie or gpe. To turn off Wifi, I just remove the card. As for the SD & CF cards as long as there is no app running from them I simply remove the card without issuing a umount command. Never had a problem with the cards after doing that.

My 2 cents.

i did

but i don"t know svn at all

could you just post a little howto?

Make sure you have all required software installed:

Open a terminal and cd to a directory where you want to have your files.

enter the following
Code: [Select]
svn co pokyIt will download all the files you need to start in a new directory below where you ran the above command. The directory will be oddly enough called "poky"
browse to the /poky/build/conf directory and open the local.conf.sample file and check the following section to make sure you're building for the correct machine type, in my case a "spitz"
Code: [Select]
# The machine to target
#MACHINE = "c7x0"
#MACHINE = "akita"
MACHINE = "spitz"
#MACHINE = "nokia770"
#MACHINE = "qemuarm"
#MACHINE = "cmx270"
Save the file as local.conf.
cd to the /poky directory and run the following command:
Code: [Select]
source ./poky-init-build-envIt will tell you the build enviroment is set, then run:
Code: [Select]
bitbake oh-image-pda
Sit back and wait and cross your fingers.

Good luck!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / My Sl-c1000 Got Bricked During Flashing Of
« on: September 20, 2006, 12:12:47 am »
it's completly dead:-( no power light comes on at all. I tried everything. my battery was fully charged and my power cord is fine...what could have gone wrong? I flash between different ROMs all the time. what should I do now? It died during the flashing process and just turned off. and now she won't turn on for me... please if you can, help me out.  Thank you all in advance.

Provide more detail on what EXACTLY you did while flashing, then we can provide more help. Don't panic, it's hard to brick your Z completely by flashing.

You can also change the value in /etc/profile
Code: [Select]
Code: [Select]
That will also give you color in kismet when you run it as root

Use the "Esc" + Num key to access the menus, i.e. esc+4: edit, esc+5: copy, esc+0: exit

Yes, I know. Thanks for starting by copying my first post there    I've already done some editing of them.

I meant for others to add to those tweaks on the wiki.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Carrying Case For Zaurus 3100
« on: July 17, 2006, 04:14:43 pm »
I use this from RhinoSkins, they have a medium size that fits well, but the larger allows my Wificard to remain in for War-walking

It too has a zippered pocket in front for the wifi card and another pocket for other stuff, also has a pen pocket on the side too. Metal clip in the back for hanging it on the belt for that Uber-Geek look.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Keylaunch And Keylaunchrc
« on: July 17, 2006, 02:54:21 pm »
Great info, thanks for sharing.

From my GPE tweaks thread..

Being able to use the LCD softkeys and the space between them is great. I've mapped the space below the Book icon to toggle hiding the panel. Being able to hide the panel is useful, but trying to bring it back can be difficult sometimes, so in /etc/keylaunchrc.matchbox I've modified the following line:
Code: [Select]
key=....F30:-:~matchbox-remote -panel-toggle

Ok, either no one else is tweaking GPE or there isn't much interest. Must be the latter..

Anyway, to humor myself, I'll add one more I found looking at CoreDump's mods to GPE. Having the matchbox panel switch to the right hand side of the screen on rotation uses up too much screen realestate plus it seems to crash the gpe-login screen if you enable login after resume. Edit /etc/matchbox/session and add --no-flip the matchbox-panel command:
Code: [Select]
matchbox-panel --orientation south --no-flip &

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Getting Network To Work On
« on: July 16, 2006, 10:39:30 pm »
I had to set up the wireless connection on eth0 and for DHCP.  Then it worked fine.

I had read to use wlan0 but that didn't work.

I want to know how to set up the Z to use something like wififofum (

I want to be able to find something that will pick up on networks and let me connect to them.  I am running OZ GPE.

Does anyone know of anything?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=135228\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Try prismstumbler (make sure to install the frontend too) Also wifi-radar is good just for connecting (you won't get any ware-driving info) For wifi-radar, you'll need to enable either the Perl or Python feeds- I don't remember which.
