Just playing around - does anybody know if the cacko rom found here: http://www.cacko.biz/test321/slc7x0-Qtopia...-1910040104.zip - supports wellereiter II.

No, I tried it too but Sash\'s kernel doesn\'t have the monitor mode patch Richjn\'s kernel does. However, I didn\'t get any lib errors (of course I installed it with the GUI, so there may have been errors I didn\'t know about). It worked great with Richjn\'s kernel and you\'re right about Wellenreiter being a much better sniffer  .

Richjn - Thanks for posting the non-overclocked patched kernel!

Oops, when I looked more closely at the download page, I see that javab0y did upload a wireless extension kernel that\'s not overclocked, but it\'s still be nice to have the preemptive and cach erata patches without the overclock. (can\'t hurt to ask) Thanks again to Richjn and javajb0y for sharing thier work.

Would you concider posting the kernel with the wireless extensions and monitor mode without the CPU overclock? I believe it was the B kernel  posted earlier. While there is a small percieved speed increase, I am concerned about long term use & shorting the life of my Z.

Sorry Richard! Woohoo should go to you then for the kernel :oops:   Yes, I\'m running the preemptif kernel that was uploaded yesterday to the ZUG. So far no problems (knock on wood). Again thanks for sharing!

Woohoo, thanks javab0y! I took the plunge and loaded your kernel on my C750 (it hasn\'t melted yet    ). I\'m running the latest Cacko Qtopia ROM, at first wellenreiter wouldn\'t work, but once I installed the latest libopiecore and opie-wellenreiter from Mickyl\'s feed it\'s working like a charm!

It seems that the only command I need to run is

Code: [Select]

cardctl reset prior to running wellenreiter.

I noticed in the download section this kernel is for the 760 only, why wouldn\'t it work in the 750? I thought their kernels were the same?

Subject says it all. As a Linux newbie, recompiling is beyond me at the moment otherwise I\'d give it a whirl. I\'ve tried kismet but it doesn\'t like my Socket card.

They fit fine and I liked the weight, but don\'t drop them! The stylus tip breaks off from the metal shaft if dropped. This has happened to me twice.  :cry:

I tried fluxbox.  I don\'t see what the advantage is over rox.  Also, rox appears to be highly customized.  I haven\'t tried the afterstep -- although I will probably compile WMs from www.xwinman.org -- just for the fun of it.  I\'ll proably be staying with rox just because it\'s pretty and seems to get the attention from the cacko team.

From a practical view point, I agree ROX is probably better (easier to see & use on a small screen) But I like the way the fluxbox menu works; it is so easily customizable and I prefer the smaller task bar at the bottom of the screen. To be honest I go back & forth between the WMs. I guess half of the fun is being able to play around and always tweaking the Z while we wait for the killer PIM app that will make this ROM the one have for the C7X0 & 8X0 series     !

 Did you create a Packages fiile using ipkg-make-index.sh?  I\'ve tried with the feed copied to my CF with and without the Packages file. weird

No, I simply used the packages file from the Cacko site (and mkPackages too). I created the /feed dir off of the root of the card. Using the same path as in the 2nd line in the ipkg.conf file. Weird indeed.

You say that you can get the local (CF) feed to work?  I keep getting an error on the Packages creation script...

Yes, I just copied all of the files from the www.cacko.biz/~sash/feed directory into /feed on my CF and it works fine. I just comment out the first line in ipkg.conf and uncomment the second.

Anyone else notice that Fluxbox doesn\'t install from the feed properly?

I was reinstalling apps after flashing to the new ROM and have been in the habit of installing from a copy of the feed on my CF (I\'m lazy and like to have the dependencies installed automatically). Fluxbox kept throwing an error (ERROR: Failed to retrieve...) So I changed ipkg.config to point back to cacko.biz and got the same error.

Fluxbox will install fine manually.
