As I load more and more stuff on my C750, I\'m starting to get concerned about space. Is there an easy way to check to see how much space is left in RAM? I imagine there will be a sysinfo type app in the final release, but meanwhile is there a linux command that will display that info? \"top\" lumps all memory together so it\'s hard to tell how much is allocatable for user apps  (I\'m a linux newbie if you can\'t tell  :oops: )

hmm, transparency with aterm no longer works with xli. I really wish i knew why qiv broke.

That\'s strange, it works for me. But I\'m not using the AppRun file to exec it. I\'m using my own command line switches in the fluxbox menu. I\'ve been trying to get larger fonts (haven\'t found the magic combo yet - with larger fonts the window gets too big and MC doesn\'t fit properly).

Is there something I need to do to initiate the connection?

mk500, I just plug in my Socket and it connects automatically to my network. I just open Konquerer and away I go   .

The only issue I\'ve found is that the passphrase doesn\'t seem to work in the LANconfig GUI. My WEP only works if I manually enter the key.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 860 - backup - newbie

Foxdie have you gotten a backup to restore properly? I tried it yesterday after re-flashing and got lots of truncated file and directories missing errors on reboot. Had to reflash and re-install all packages (thankfully I had backed up all of my keyboard & fluxbox menu edits).

which init file are you changing? /etc/X11/fluxbox/init or /home/root/.fluxbox/init ?

I\'ve been working on the /home/root/.fluxbox/init file.

After much screwing around I\'ve found that it\'s important to do a reboot after editing the init file. For some reason just restarting fluxbox overwrites the init file and removes the changes.

I\'m running into a weird problem. I\'m not able to change the wallpaper by editing the init file. Every time I do, it changes back to the first wallpaper image I put in the init file. I can change the wallpaper via aterm with the bsetbg command. I\'ve triple checked my syntax and file details in init but everytime I restart fluxbox it goes back to the old wallpaper.  :roll:

My understanding is that when they officially release this ROM it will include a PIM. Remember this is still a beta release. A kick-ass beta, but still a work in progress. The reason for all of the gnome libraries in the feed are to support the PIM app they are planning on releasing. Be patient...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Troubles with FTP to X11

ftp://ftp root@192.168.129.201 leads to hangup approximately 50% of times, especially when reconnecting.

If you\'re using windblows explorer to ftp, it\'ll be slow and that may be your problem, try cuteftp or FlashFxp. I use FlashFxp without problems in W2K & XP.

Foxdie I\'m impressed by your plan! (you\'ve got way too much time on your hands   ) The best part of having a Z is being able to tweak it until it breaks!
For me though I don\'t mind using the stylus. My ideal layout would be all mouse buttons could be achieved through screen taps alone.

My current layout is:
keys right of Fn mapped to Control & Alt
Calendar toggles mouse L
Address toggles mouse Middle
Mail toggles mouse R

Next step for me is to see about mapping the Calendar, Address & Mail icons on the right side of the screen to mouse button toggles so I can mouse without touching the keyboard.

This could be very useful in the future if the screen rotation feature gets worked out & combined with a screen keyboard like in the Sharp ROM. I\'d like to be able to use the X11 ROM in PDA mode at times.

Not sure what Foxdie is working on but I\'ve remapped the Calendar, Address and Mail keys to toggle the mouse buttons
Calendar=mouse left
Address=mouse middle
Mail=mouse right

I did this with Sash\'s help pointing me to the right file.  

To do this, edit xkmc file in /home/etc

take the lines:
keycode=49,        Control,  Exec, xmodmap -e \"pointer = 1 2 3\", NoFork, NoAutoRepeat
keycode=50,        Control,  Exec, xmodmap -e \"pointer = 2 1 3\", NoFork, NoAutoRepeat
keycode=51,        Control,  Exec, xmodmap -e \"pointer = 3 2 1\", NoFork, NoAutoRepeat

Change the keycode=96 & 97 & 98 respectively on each line.Then replace Control with none on each line save and reboot.

Now I can change the screen taps with one key stroke. It\'s much easier/faster to navigate now.

I\'ve used W2K, XP & Mandrake 9.2 without problems. Have you changed USB slots? I\'ve had to reinstall USB drivers to associate with different USB slot when I changed where I was plugging into.

I only had this happen when the battery level is low, otherwise it stays full power during use.

Fluxbox will be ready tonight. The one on the Feed is an older version that we had, The one i\'m packaging up right now will be all set up for the X11 rom.

Is the new version up on the feed yet? Fluxbox really rocks, but I can\'t wait to get rid of the ROX task bar at the bottom of the screen that keeps popping up & want to be able to control the background with fluxbox instead of ROX. Keep up the great work  

Also any ideas for my key remapping question  here?
