I don't mean to burst your bubble, but Amazon has them NEW for $379.00. I love my Z Sl 6000L but lets face it, they are not ever going to be worth the original purchase price, once they have been used.

Just FYI, hope you get a buyer at your price, if not let me know I could use a spare for OZ testing.

Good Luck!
I became aware of that today, yesterday the price was $475...

I'm currently in negotiations to sell it for $350, but will let you know if it falls through and I need another buyer.

6000 - Tosa / Universal Remote

Well, I've sorta had some luck with this.  I've gotten lircd to work once using a package from here (turned on/off my tv):

that I found from this thread:

But it seems to be conflicting somehow with the wireless on the SL6000L.  I can't setup a wireless network when lirc is installed. To get wireless to work I need to comment out the loading of the lirc_sir module and reboot.

Again, does anybody have this working with the SL-6000? Or know how?  On the Sharp Rom, or openzaurus?

smuelas, good work on all these instructions.  I've been able to get Debian working with mozilla, gaim, kismet, etc.   I'll be trying your keyboard map tonight.

Something I've found is you'll also want to create a /etc/hosts file with at least the localhost entry or you won't be able to resolve the hostname of localhost.

I don't know how far along you are, but are there any optimizations/recommendations for speed improvements?  Everything I want to use is working but I'm greatly spoiled with my fast desktop and the zaurus seems slow. And any ideas how to get XMMS usable (very very choppy).

I have created a swap file, but that doesn't seem to help with my already slow SD card.

Anyone have a Universal Remote like zirrem or opie-remote working on the SL-6000L?  I'm currently using the Sharp Rom, but Open Zaurus is ok with me.  How would I go about doing this?  I'm actually trying to test it with Qmode2, since I figure that would be the first step in seeing if the zaurus gets the signal from the remote... right?

The packages I've found don't seem to work - and the lirc package I found doesn't install.  The names of the packages I have are:  lirc-Sharp-ROM-3.10_0.6.6_arm.ipk (installed ok) and lirc_0.6.6-zaurus_arm.ipk (which shows as installed but warned me it didn't extract everything -- broken).

I have been messing around with the Open Embedded build enviornment on my desktop and it seems oemake lirc and oemake lirc-modules should build, but they don't.  It complains about not being configured?  If there aren't any pre-build packages for "tosa" does anyone know how I could ./configure this?

6000 - Tosa / OpenZaurus, OZ on the 6000

When you untar you will find it only has a tools.cramfs and the  Just place these two file in the root of you sd or cf card and for the normal flash direction of the Power+OK.  This time when your Z reboots you find yourself at a menu screen.  Currently the resize does not work for the 6000 and I have not tried the home backup and restore.  Anyone that wants to can play with it and let me know what problem they find.
I hold OK+Power, Select Update, SD....

"Error starting terminal Linux"

Any ideas?

Has anyone had any experience booting from a flash card (I have a sandisk 128) attached to the usb port on the zaurus?  If so, does the installation/reboot procedure differ at all?
I've been trying this the last 2 hours or so to do something similar.  I don't have a SD or CF card (or flash driver) so I've been trying to flash it over USB using that option connected to my PC.

I'm connected to the cradle and in Windows.

I've downloaded the 5600 rom update from  It has a ZaurusOSUpdate.exe that I'm trying to use for my SL-6000L.  I have edited the files to include the standard zImage.bin and that were mentioned in earlier posts.  I have both Opie and GPE downloaded, not sure which I'm currently attempting.

I've cleared off all installed self-installed software.

I get to the point where it says "--- Zaurus USB Updater ---" on the zaurus.

The pc then connects, appears to send the, but stops.  The Zaurus says "please reset" or something.

I've tried various paths for the files:

All no good.

I think the problem might be (although I'm guessing here) there's some errors when going into the USB Update option referring to "usbdevfs" "can not mount" "usb_ohci_?" and "/proc/bus/usb".  Maybe that always happens?

It at least appears this approach is "hackable", but this is my first zaurus, and my first attempt at flashing it.

There may even be a ready to use ZaurusOSUpdate.exe for the 6000 out there somewhere...

Maybe someone else has a clue....
