Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Fix The Attachments
« on: June 01, 2007, 07:41:39 pm »
Wow, glad this thread was created.  I hope someone is able to get this issue
with (at least) image attachments to open correctly.  It makes it very painful to
try and catchup with what's been going on with the Z and see folk's screenshots, etc..

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Howto Build A 5500 Beta1 Kernel Using Pdax86?

what are your goals for this ??
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=160415\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I've been away from the Zs for quite a while.  I think I was trying
to get a 5500 pdaXrom system to build, such that I could try to fix
some things.  I think I was frustrated at the bug that caused the
5500 to suspend when the right arrow was held down for a couple seconds.
I saw a patch from OZ that corrected this, and that was the first thing
I was trying to accomplish.  I know there were a few other things, but
it was so long ago I can't remember.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Service Pack 1 For Beta1
« on: April 14, 2007, 07:41:48 pm »

Is this service pack available yet?  Most of the issues mentioned at the start of this thread can be resolved with NAND backups, but I still think this is a good idea.

An additional request would be to fix the apm scripts.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=158856\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I forgot about the APM scripts.  I also modified mine to shut down WIFI so
the 6000 will not hang after a resume, if WIFI was active when it was suspended.
Somewhere I actually created a list of mods I made, and I'll see if I can dig it up,
although I'm not sure it includes all mods.

For Sale / Wanted / Stolen Sl-6000

Oh man, that's too bad.  A sled too, huh?  I feel for you.  I've never even
seen a sled in real life, and am somewhat ticked off at Sharp for discontinuing
them.  I'm sorry for your loss...

For Sale / Wanted / Fs - 2 Sl-5500s (1 Is Black ) And Maybe An Sl-6000
« on: April 02, 2007, 11:38:47 am »
I thought about selling my SL-6000, but they do not seem to
be fetching enough for me to part with it.  And, I bought mine
used, and saved about $40 because it had a couple scratches on
the screen.

EDIT: I can't seem to find a way to delete this thread...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Dillo Bookmarks, Where Are They Saved?
« on: March 28, 2007, 02:44:03 am »
I'm not on my Z, but on my desktop here, there is a
file in ~/.dillo named bm.txt which stores them.

The silver 5500 has been sold.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=155386\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Do you still have the black one buy any chance? If so, how much are you looking to get for it?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=157211\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Hi,

Yes, I still have the black 5500.  I have just started a project (in JAVA) that I hope I
can get to run on the 5500 when I am done.  For now, I want to keep the 5500.  If I
find that the project is too much for the 5500 to handle I will update this post.  Since
it is the only 5500 I now have, it would be best for me to sell all the 5500 accessories
with it.  That would be 2 cradles, 2 batteries, 1 original box, 1 original case, and
1 power supply.  Also, I have been watching ebay a little, and they are not fetching enough
at the moment in my opinion, to make me feel good about parting with it.

Oh yeh, I have one of the older socket low-power WIFI cards, that I have never been
able to get to work with a WEP access point, so I'd be including that in the bundle.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Tutorial: Pdaxrom On Sl-6000
« on: March 10, 2007, 09:09:55 am »
A couple of extra things that should be included in a SL-6000 "howto"

1 - My xmodmap updates to provide some missing keyboard characters (under X11)
I posted a thread about this.
    EDIT:    https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=18232

2 - Add a script to shutdown WIFI during a suspend, or the Z will freeze on resume

I've been away from my SL-6000 for a while, but I might start using it again this weekend.
If I discover any other useful things I did, I will update this thread with them.

Hi,

There is a very small dot which is tough to notice, and it usually
takes me a few seconds to even find it.  It can best be described
as a very slightly cloudy dot.  It is not like a scratch, and you can
see right through it, but it is list a tiny bit cloudy.  I think I tried to
get it in some pics that are posted in another thread, perhaps in the
5500 forum.  I will try to find it, since I spent a lot of time trying to
get it to show in a picture.  It was part of a discussion where someone
else had that issue, and I cam to the conclusion that it was from repeated
clicking on the "opera" icon in the Sharp ROM by the previous owner.

I will try to find that thread now...

EDIT:  I found it.  The pics are attached to post #6 in this thread
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=21440

Again, it is barely visible, but if you look near the O in opera, there
is an ever so slight "shadow" in between the O and the icon itself.
It is in the bottom picture.

Do you still have any of this for sale?
I am looking for a parts unit.
I need a digitizer mainly.
If so what price are you looking for?
If I could just buy the black one that would be best.

Thanks
Jon

Gee, if you want a parts unit only for the digitizer, why
sacrifice the perfect black one?  I could quote you a very low
price on just the silver unit and flip cover.  That would allow
me to keep a battery/charger/cradle/ as a spare to use with
the black one.  I'm thinking around $35 or so for the silver
one off the top of my head.  It's tough to let the black one
go super-cheap though.

For Sale / Wanted / Wanted: Sl-6000
« on: February 16, 2007, 09:34:51 pm »
I think a lot of people want one.  At least that's the way it was
a while back, when the 6000 was more popular.  I might even
be inclined to bid on one.  I have a battery extender, but it
is bulky, and the extra CF card slot would be really useful to me,
assuming it works with pdaXrom of course.

I will need to sell something myself on ebay to be able to
purchase it, so if you are thinking of putting it up on ebay
soon, please let us know!  Thanks!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Java In Pdaxrom
« on: February 09, 2007, 04:10:39 pm »
Hi Folks,

I've been away from the Z for a while.  Since I have the SL-6000 and
use beta 1.1 I'm wondering if this will work on beta 1.1 and if it
supports JAVA 2D.

I'd like the (real) Sun JAVA, but it seems not all of it is available yet, so
I assume the jamvm/classpath combination is the best bet for now.

Anyone know?  Thanks

did you buy that black 5500 off ebay, painted black?  [...]

Nope, it was silver when I bought it.  I took the front of the case off
and used 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper, and a slow stream of water from
a sink.  There is a thread, something like "powdercoated zaurus" here
somewhere.  Someone had suggested powdercoating, and someone else
posted pics of one (like mine) that was blackened by just removing the
silver paint off the front.  I took my time, and made sure I preserved the
original contours.  I think mine came out a little better, but again I did
not pursue removing all that silver paint in the "display frame" ledges.
