Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxii13 And Flv Videos
« on: July 17, 2007, 11:46:21 am »

Hi,

I use pdaXii13 v5.4.7 on my SL-C3100 and want to use smplayer to watch flv videos. As meany told smplayer should play this file but it only shows one or two standby pics and nothing more. I also changed the mplayer versions (mplayer1, mplayer2) but without success!

Does anyone did the same experience?

How can we fix this problem?

Regards
climbrer

...not sure why mplayer1 won't do it, as I can watch flv's with the updated mplayer.

It's almost finished. I just need to debug a problem with enabling the 3D mode. For some reason the register is switching back right after the mode was enabled for the first time and the audio device is closed.
Also the OSS /dev/mixer stuff needs to be implemented. The options look pretty slim for treble, bass and 3D sound adjustments. AFAIK, OSS does only allow values in range of 0 to 100 for these three settings and the WM8750 offers way more options here.
Attached is a preliminary screenshot of the control app. This application will control all advanced parameters in /proc/driver/wm8750/.

Wow - nice work.  Will this end up running OK on pdaxrom, or is it dependent on running opie (probably yes, by the looks of the screenshot)

I wouldn't be surprised at all if ext2 caused less wear. the fat32 was so I can use the Z asa usb key on pretty much anything,  the stuff I intend put on /data is pretty much static data. Hopefully the writes aren't enough to show any serious performance difference.
thanks for mentioning it, though

Ok.  In terms of getting it up & running, was it simply a matter of swapping the MD for the CF card & then doing a full install of pdaxii3 in the normal way?

it works beautifully.

I formatted 3g ext2, 128m swap, 12+g fat 32 (and 198m unused at the end

I actually do swapoff and use swap on the sd card-- The idea with this scheme  is to avoid running afoul of the pdaxii13 hd scripting (and it seemed reasonable).

soo..with not too much fear and anguish (ennough, though) involved in the change from microdrive to flash I now have a 20 gig 3100 running pdaxii13 full.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=164633\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Great news.  Did you use the pdaxii13 boot menu to partition the CF card?

Also, I'm interested that you used ext2 rather than ext3...any particular reason?

Segfaults?
If used old version, you sould delete file /home/root/Choice/powerctrl.cfg.

Otherwise, run mb-applet-powerctrl in x terminal, and try to upload debug information.

Thanks - deleting the old powerctrl.cfg worked.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / "latest" Zgcc By Meanie Incompatible With Beta3?

latest zgcc has been uploaded. let me know if you have any problems with this build. the gnome headers have not changed in any zgcc build, the only hacking was done in the gtk/gdk stuff so hopefully this should fix it.

Hi Meanie - what's the url for downloading zgcc?

No that's the pdaXrom builder to build your own toolchain and/or ROM. I used this one. I've updated the Wiki with the right link
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=164432\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

OK thanks.  Will this SDK work for producing apps for my 3200, as the link seems to be for building for the 7x0-860 ?

Let us know how you get on with the install - I'm looking to go the same way at some point, when UK prices for 16gb CF cards become more reasonable.

Is [a href=\"ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/pdaxrom/download/rc12/pdaXrom-builder-02.36_29.11.05.tar.bz2] this[/url] the Cross SDK toolchain needed for compilation?

here's the source file and ipk for further testing.

can the volume control be made optional, ie volume_ctrl=true|false for those who want to use a separate volume applet.

Segfaults, even when run using sudo.  I'm using 5.4.7 pdaxii13 on a 3200

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Thinwire On Pdaxii3?

Why this all torture??? If you desperately need this - please buy a cheap laptop with at least 512mb ram. Java webserver, JDK, AJAX on Zaurus? 64 mb of RAM ? I would NOT want to work like this.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=164408\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

LOL

I do have it all installed on my laptop & it's working very nicely.  I just wanted the flexibility of being able to use my zaurus too

Any way to fix the mime type on this attachent so that it'll download properly in a browser?

Also, it gave me an "Extract of some of the files failed [...]" error.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=164280\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

...just copy the name of the file with your mouse, then right-click & "save link as", then rename index.php to the name of the file by pasting over index.php with the filename.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Thinwire On Pdaxii3?
« on: July 05, 2007, 01:08:19 pm »
I'm wanting to develop web2.0 apps using thinwire, with the thinwire sdk on my 3200 (running Meanie's 5.4.7 pdaxii13 distro); I wonder if somone might give me some advice as to how possible this might be, using the TJWS java webserver & the blackdown 1.31 jdk.

My questions are: will thinwire run on this older version of the jdk & how do I go about compiling the thinwire source code to generate the jar files for the zaurus?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Current State Of Gps In Pdaxrom?
« on: June 27, 2007, 02:49:38 pm »
gpsdrive works with pdaxii3 & outputs voice info if you have flite installed & an NMEA-based GPS receiver.  I used it in the car with a bluetooth CF card & bluetooth-based navman pocket gps receiver over the half term hols.  Sometimes the navman wouldn't pick up satellites, other times I drove for a couple of hundred km & it tracked perfectly.

I found it very useful just to see where I was on the journey, but my best gps receiver by far is still my spouse

hdimage-custom.tgz = user submitted custom hdimage
pdaXii13-custom.tgz = customisation files for pdaXii13 which can be used to upgrade

ok, thanks - upgrade works a treat!
