Cosmo Communicator - Linux / donations to linux dev
« on: September 12, 2020, 02:58:41 pm »
I have the feeling that the so called `community` from planet computer is just one developer. is it ninji who does all the linux stuff?
Since Linux is really the one and only reason I bought this device, I would really like to support the dev or the devs to get a full working distro. Maybe some donations can do wonder in motivation. What do you guys think?

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Boot error after setting up rooted android
« on: February 28, 2020, 01:32:13 pm »
I made the same "mistake". Do not attempt to repartionate your device with 100% android because the SIMs will not work then. You could try uninstalling magisk. I found no way out. I endet up fully wiping system and data partition but the rom provided here is neighter flashable with twrp nor with adb. (see my thread "screwed up")

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / screwed up

thanks for the reply, i tried, but the logo.img is missing from the full rom.zip.
I also emailed to PC if they could provide a fastboot rom or twrp image, or if I could send it in for repair (I'd pay of course). They didn't answer.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / screwed up
« on: February 27, 2020, 03:32:34 pm »
Dear community
I fu... up my device - wiped all, incl system. That's the way I always did with a lot of devices and I thought: OK, I have the Rom.zip from the forum here. Unfortunately sideloading it shows "this rom is for Cosmo Communicator, but this device is a cosmo".
Can someone please be so kind to help or link me to the needed "cosmo" zip-image.

Why not just extracting the boot image with SP flash tool, modify it with magisk and reflash it with flash tool? That usually works like a charm on Mediatek devices, no unlocking bootloader, no recovery required. I have not tried it with the cosmo yet though.

Does this mean flashing (and booting) the rooted boot image with the flash tool works with locked bootloader? Always assumed the bootloader has to be unlocked or the image has to be signed somhow.

It has for most snapdragon powered devices. BUT: For many MTK devices you do not have to unlock the bootloader. I have successfully rooted some MTK devices with this method. You do not need the stock rom, you have to extract the scatter file from your own phone, copy it to your phone and choose "flash image file" in magisk, and reflash it to your phone. SP flash tool is available for Windows and Linux, sadly I don't know of a version for OSx. If I had the time, I'd try it now. Just do a search on SP flash tool on XDA forums - there are many step-by-step guides there. The flash tool itself is available almost everywhere - just do a websearch.
As soon as I have some time, I will try it on the cosmo. ATM I am too busy with work but I will reply as soon as I have some time. Ninjis method is surely working 100% for now and is no big deal. I will wait until there is LineageOS and Sailfish or Linux before using the cosmo though.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Keys getting stuck
« on: January 18, 2020, 02:52:50 pm »
I am having issues with any bluetooth keyboards (really good ones) on android generally. On the android Yoga book thera are options in settings for adjustment of hardware keyboards that work. I'm curious how the Cosmo keyboard will work on Linux. I guess it is not only a hardware problem.

why not just make an adb backup? if one is rooted there are even more options for backups.
well, I haven't got an update, nor do I find anything on their support page. Maybe they provided it to you first because of your genius skills ;-)
EDIT: got it, too. my fw blocked it
