Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Linux v4 install kills MMS
« on: May 08, 2021, 09:46:52 am »
I was using MMS on v3 under Tmobile successfully.
After upgrading to v4, MMS no longer works.
I installed connman, cmst, etc., followed the same procedure as in v4.
Tried setting the context properties, no luck.
Any ideas?

I tried to install after a reinstall with:
sudo apt install connman cmst mobile-broadband-provider-info ofono-scripts
Currently the install gives errors like:
Temporary failure resolving gemian.thinkglobally.org.....

I believe the install package is not available from this location currently.
Is there another way to get the install?

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: need to reflash stock android image

It takes you back to v19 but then, you can upgrade like normal from that point.
NOTE: I had to do the process twice. The first time it booted into chinese. I rebooted into twrp and repeated the steps and restarted as new v19

I got the preview running. Any fixes for running in landscape or receiving MMS?

Does anyone know if Plasma mobile would work on top of the Debian version that has been officially released?
It seems like it would be a more mobile experience. It would like to be able to run both.
On the Android side an AOSP(maybe GSI Treble ROM) or LineageOs version would be great.
Any how to leads would be great.

If I remember correctly, download the update and put it in the root directory, then use the CODI ...

"Select "Advanced" and then "Flash Image Manually" and then select the Cosmo_firmware-stem_ospi2_mouse15.bin. To update the CoDi firmware click on the "FLASH NOW" button. After flashing, please ignore any over-the-air Cover Display assistant notifications to update firmware as this is a custom build."

Would someone who has this working please post steps to install and run Sailfish.
Thanks

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: Installing microG on stock Cosmo ROM
« on: December 27, 2020, 07:22:26 am »
I tried the same procedure but had to use debloater to degoogle. When I tried from titanium apks reappeared on reboot.
I’m having trouble getting FakeGapps to signature spoof from Magisk install.
I do have root.
Any ideas?
My goal is to keep the stock rom degoogled and replace google apps with alternatives.

Cosmo Communicator - Android / need to reflash stock android image
« on: December 16, 2020, 07:18:36 am »
Greetings.
I received my cosmo last month. :)
I'm planning to use it mostly as a portable device to learn linux and run some android apps.
I received it with the SD Card containing v23 firmware.
I followed the video on multi boot linux/android(with twrp installed).
The normal boot never worked, but the android root booted until....
At one point I wanted to restore to original condition using a v23 twrp backup.
When I did the backup, I selected all available content to backup.
During the restore, it hung.  :( at 60% during /system restore.
I tried to use recovery to setup again as above, without success.
I ended up in a boot loop on android root and normal.
linux boots and works however and I have twrp, recovery menu and SD Card will mount.
I am not able to connect via ADB. Device doesn't show up on USB connection.
I downloaded and tried to fastboot or flash the v23 zip, without success.
When I tried update from SD Card with v23 zip, I get signature verification failed.

I think I need to flash a stock rom, but I don't know the details for Cosmo.
The last phone I flashed was a samsung using odin years ago.
I see references to a SP Flash tool, but what image to flash and how I don't know.

Any help would be great.
Happy holidays and be safe.
