I agree - this PIM suite makes the Z nearly ready for business - for professional use there is only one big gap left: hotsync with Outlook and other mainstream desktop PIMs.

I've used many PDA PIMs before (Psion, Palm etc.) but this is one of the best. Great work!

Now it is up to a GUI expert to streamline the Kde-pim/pi GUI for better PDA usage...

That was one of the things that really pissed me off: I had a Psion Series 5, and expected a 5 year newer device to have at least as good PIM functionality. Fat chance with the Sharp software (I haven't seen the Trolltech apps, so I can't comment on those).

We're doing that already, it just takes time.
Have you seen the change in input in agenda view? What do you think?

You can customize the views that Kopi cycles through: It only cycles that you have buttons for in the toolbar. So select whichever buttons you want, re-start (make sure you deselect fast-load before starting it up again, you can re-select it once the kopi is started again), and it should cycle between the buttons you have.
Let me know if you have any troubles, though.
That works, but:
I prefer the next n days view over the working week view, so i left only this, week and day on the toolbar. Still Kopie insists, that next days starts on monday. Once forced by tapping it in the toolbar, it remains in the correct start - exactly until next resume. Not a big thing, but enoying.

And another thing (maybe a little bit older)
you may select multiple events in list view and there's an option to do something with selected events (you can even choose select all) but you can't do anything to more than one selected, since entering context menu deselects all, except for the one you happened to tap.

Greetz,

Already spotted this one. Right now the behaviour of Next-X-Days view is different depending on how you access it (it's a X day view when cylcled through using the agenda button, and actually shows the next X days when access with the toolbar button). I already told zautrix this isn't the desired behaviour, and am awaiting a reply.

Confirmed. Sending this in. If you keep testing the List view (I don't really use it, so it's bee a bit overlooked) I'll test reproduction and post them on the list.
Thanks for reporting.

Like I said, versions come out so fast simply because zautrix fixes problems faster than I can find them, and I can find quite a few.
To make upgrading a bit quicker, run this:

ipkg remove kaddressbook &&
[...]

Ole! then you just move to a directory where you've dumped all the files,
"ipkg install kmicrolib*.ipk",
"rm kmicrolib*.ipk", and
"ipkg install *.ipk", and finally
"rm *.ipk"

[...]

Thanks ev1l, yep, I tried that and, even if it is still far form fast, I can do it in two steps and not worry to wait for everything to (un)install.
But I had some problems after installing 2.0.22 that way. It worked once and then it kept complaining about not finding libmicrokde. No matter what I install/uninstall, and if I did it from console or from Qt app.
After losing many braincells, I thought it could be because I had a swapfile activated when installing
Deactivated it, reinstalled and, voila! It worked.
Is this possible???

BTW, when I installed Pwmpi 2.0.22 the file with passwords I had already created, just disappeared. I don't know if this could be a bug or a side-effect of the problems I had installing...

On the other hand, do you think something like a "post-it" app could be added to ko-pi?
I mean something you could write on directly with the pen, to take fast notes. Just like on paper!

Possible yes, anything is. I didn't have problems though. Did you try a simple reboot before deactivating the swap file? Zautrix can probably tell you more.

Mine is just fine. You did have backups, right?

That's not really what Kopi is about. The integrated drawing app already does that, although not as nicely as say, the Palm version of the Notes app, which is very nice and streamlined.

I just updated to 2.0.22 and the KO/pi alarm applet never came back.  After a reboot it shows up in the applet list, but the applet itself isn't visible.  Did i miss a step?

I submitted a bug report that tapping on the + in front of a collapsed todo with subtodos only momentarily expands, and then collapses again.  zautrix says this is correct right mouse click behavior.  I realize it's his baby, so i guess that's the way it is, but can anyone explain to me why that would ever be desired behavior?  And more importantly, how do i expand the listing?  I've tried press-and-hold, but it does the same thing.

There must be some confusion ...

If I  tap (short) on the screnn I can expand the todo.
If I tap long, it closes again.
Such that the closing on the long tap is the right behaviour.

What Z /Rom are you using?

I use KO/Pi and KA/Pi for my organizer and address needs, but I'm still missing a replacement for the Palm Memo program - syncable text notes. There isn't a Pi version of Memo any more than there is a Pi Notes, is there? Or am I just missing something?

I'll write one if I have to, but it seems like a bit of an odd exclusion.

A little more on topic - Every version of KA/Pi and KO/Pi I've tried has had a problem with sync: I use Pi-sync direct to KO/Pi and KA/Pi on Windows XP. If I set the "Enable Pi-sync at startup" (or whatever it is called), I can't activate sync from the 860 until I've disabled and re-enabled pi-sync in the Windows programs. If I forget and try anyway, I have to  manually kill the kapi or kopi process on the 860 through konsole, because it seems to get stuck.

If I manually enable sync in the windows programs after they start, then attempt to sync from the 860, all goes well.

This I first noticed this in 2.0.6, and it still seems to be happening in 2.0.20. Is this something peculiar to my setup, or a known issue?

Yeah, that's true. But since I am getting used to it, and I find so many things to do with it, I just forgot I had other programs...

BTW, I didn't find any bugs in Pwmpi (that means nothing, of course   ). Ok, Cancel, etc. button in Configure... menu fit right in the screen of a 5500. I find it an easy to use, simple and useful app.

Yes, that should be fixed.
But you need to use the new version on Windows as well.

Zautrix, I know you shot down my OM/Pi wish list, but could I make a request for KA/Pi?

I'd really like to see color-coded categories and the ability to view contacts in those colors. To give an example: assign green to the "Family" category, enabling all "Family" contacts in the standard list view to display in green text. It's a lot like viewing events in KO/Pi in their respective category colors. This helps when scanning for a particular contact.

I also forgot to add that syncing is near perfect. I'm no longer running into the duplicate entries -- KO/Pi catches nearly every conflict in tasks and events when syncing with an .ics file.

Alright. I'll test with a swap file later to try and reproduce it. Zautrix, do you have any clue what could have gone wrong?

Perfect, thanks. Have you had a chance to check the config screens for the other apps?

I think you can already do that with the view options. I'll check and confirm/deny.

kahm, how many bloody Zauruses did you order, you bastard?
