stupkid:

Your packages file in CackoFeed tells us to put the files here:

/opt/QtPalmtop/openttd/data

but they really need to go here:

/opt/QtPalmtop/lib/openttd/data

Minor issue, but some of us are slow some days.

Anyone have good instructions on this? I was trying to figure out how to build the company HQ and couldn't figure out how to place the HQ in a town...

Or be a criminal (in the US anyway) and download it from Usenet (try alt.binaries.oldgames).  If you don't know what Usenet is I'm not going to explain.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=63340\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

actually I have no idea how to get onto that Usenet. Somebody care to explain

At the risk of getting wrath from the Copyright Gods, I suggest looking at "abandonware" sites on Google if you don't have Usenet. I even can give you a direct link to an abandonware site (I actually found several with TT on it).

thanks sounwave. I got it working on 6k. fyi, the data folder is at /home/QtPalmtop/lib/openttd/data/ on my 6k if installed into internal memory

I'm thrilled with the nice details and lookings of openTTD on the 640x480 vga screen. I'm a sucker of strategy games (can't imagine how many hours I'd been spent on railroad tycoon 2). This is a killer game for me. Sounns is perfect, I don't mind the lack of midi. I'd rather lisene to my mp3 if it doesn't slow openttd down too much. Installation to my sd card still had problem "ipkg says somthing went wrong".

I have never played this game but I was curious... so all that I've done is edit the binary (built by tovarish) to change the resolution to 320*240 and it appears to work.

So if you install the ipk (built by stupkid) in this thread on a 5600 with the Sharp rom (I use the special kernel) and replace the binary with the 'test binary' I edited, you can open the game. It looks and sounds good on the 5600 but I'm not sure about the keymapping or the right clicks?(never played it)

I realize that openttd should be recompiled for the smaller resolution but this was just a quick dirty hack. I don't know if it is arm5 only (5500?), but I will attach it here if anyone wants to try it out on a 5600 that knows how to play the game.

If you try it and it works or not, let us know.

You can't attach gunzips here so I will zip it.

Edit:
I have installed OTTD on my linux desktop to see how to play this game. After taking a look at it I now see that the binary I had attached was not playable with the reduced resolution... because you can't access all the options needed to play. So I have removed it to prevent any confusion.

Hey, Im a newbie and im trying to get openttd to work. But i cant copy the files for some reason. Here is what i type:

cp /hdd3/Documents/tycoon/sample.cat /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/openttd/data/sample.cat

When i do this i get:

cp: unable to open '/opt/QtPalmtop/lib/openttd/data/sample.cat' : No such file or directory

If i try to do:

cp /hdd3/Documents/tycoon/sample.cat /opt/QtPalmtop/openttd/data/sample.cat

I get:

cp: unable to open '/opt/QtPalmtop/openttd/data/sample.cat' : Permission denied

Im running this on a C3000 with the Cacko Beta Rom.

Im not sure if the cp comand is the comand i should be using.

But it seems to have worked in other instances. So please let me know if anyone has any ideas on this.

Thanks,
NewBie

There's no such file because it's not there yet. Try this:
Code: [Select]
cp /hdd3/Documents/tycoon/sample.cat /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/openttd/dataIf you get 'Permission denied' do it as root (su)

I don't have a C3000 and it's been a while since I tried this on a 5xxx but...

You may have to create the directory

mkdir 'whatever and wherever'

And you may have to cd to the directory before you cp:

cd /mnt/hdd3/Documents/tycoon    'or wherever it's at' then:

cp sample.cat 'to the directory you created'

Sorry, I missed this post... su = substitute user (you su to root by default)

At the prompt in terminal

Code: [Select]
$ su
# cp 'whatever'
