3.5.3 Upgrades
« on: April 15, 2005, 05:34:21 am »
Requests for packages which are in OE and need to be upgraded and added to the (upgrades) feed.

Few rules:
1. package MUST already exist in OpenEmbedded
2. it has to be package - we won't build whole OPIE

I installed qpegps, but it requires a gpsd to run...and gpsd isn't in the feed.  Could we get the gpsd the qpegps team provides from Sourceforge.  That would make me a truly happy person...thanks!

A working Wellenreiter II would be nice

Thanks to all the effort the OZ and Opie teams put in! It is much appreciated.

A gpsd integrating fixes for the USB Delorme Earthmate (http://trans.civil.northwestern.edu/~jay/gpsd.html, http://geocities.com/i0xox0i) would make me very very happy.

Says it requires libusb 0.1.8+ and kernel 2.6, or there is a patch for 2.4.x kernels in the second link.

for machine related things please add (by hand) machine feeds:

http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl.../machine/collie
http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl.../machine/poodle
http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...ed/machine/c7x0
http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstabl...ed/machine/tosa

choose correct one ofcourse

this will resolve:
- sharp-camera-support
- libqte2
- orinoco-modules-cs

- kdepimpi 2.0.27 will be available soon in feed
- gpsd is provided - fixed version has to be made by someone who know that util - I probably can add it but wont be able to test. Anyway qpegps has a problem with new gpsd

Hrw,

could you try adding it anyway?  I'll test it for you.
As i recall, I tested the gpsd from the ipk on SF provided by the qpegps, while myself using the qpegps from the 3.5.2 feed, and it worked, except it gave me numbers that were totally off...i assume this was because of the float incompatibilities, or whatever.  If you could just try?  thanks a whole lot!

Also (to stay on topic a bit), the poodle machine feed doesn't have a sharp-camera-support ipk, i had to get one of a thread here somewhere...

Later:

Just tried the gpsd in the net feed, it still doesn't work with qpegps, but i can get correct numbers from it through telnet fine...tried zroadmap also, that gives the error "could not open the selected trip" on startup, and then promptly crashes...aargh.

I did update to 3.5.3 with opie, step from 3.5.2 is very cool

I did try to install opie-mediaplayer2, but I could not find libxine1 library, it was a dependency, I did find only libxine,

so I did install libxine, and I did change dependecy in control file of opie-mediaplayer package from libxine1 -> libxine

seems that it's working

BUT when I play mp3 sound is not very good, it is disjoined, and some noise is in the sound :-(

There were some irritating bugs in the 2.6 kernel in the OZ 3.5.3 release. I've updated http://www.rpsys.net/openzaurus/ with the current status of them. All the new bugs have been fixed and an upgraded kernel is available in http://www.rpsys.net/openzaurus/packages/ along with some extra modules (bluetooth).

You don't need to reflash the initrd again as updater.sh is able to update the kernel only (just put the zImage.bin and updater.sh file on the card without initrd.bin).

upgraded:
- kdepimpi 2.1.0
- ipkg 0.99.148

added zbedic 0.9.4

to upgrade zbedic you need to remove older (20041227) version first!

upgraded:
- kdepimpi 2.1.0
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=75868\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Aargh!
I need new glasses or a new brain:
When testing 2.1.0 I did not notice the obvious edit dialog size problem in KO/Pi with 2.1.0.

I fixed it in 2.1.1.

It would be great, if you can update to that version.

I have left sources of version 2.0.23 -2.0.27 on SF.

Which one of these I can delete without causing problems in OE?

Thx,

z.
