I have an idea for an improvement to the "What's Next" view that I don't THINK is a huge deal to implement but make a big difference for functionality.

Instead of having the meeting time all on one line (where it takes up more than half the screen real estate on my 5000d) have it print on two line, seperated after the dash ( - ) to take up about a third of the screen.  This would make it so more than two appointments would fit on the screen, and it would be much more useful.

I have attached two screenshots to show the old way (scrn003.bmp) versus my proposed way (scrn004.bmp)

That looks like a plan. In the mean time, use 24H-base times, it doesn't take quite as much room. I think the way the text wraps could really be improved as well.

That check works for newly imported items , but it does not work for saved and reloaded items.  I have fixed something in the import handling. Maybe it will work in the latest version.
Aha, that's a bit counter-intuitive, isn't it? Is there any way you can make that persistent?

Well, it is a bug, of course. But I do not know the reason the reloaded data is different.
I would need to get one dataset to see what may be the problem.

As usual, it is working for me ...

I've tried version 2.1.12 and it works better, but still doesn't quite work.  Of my 68 calendar entries, 13 are imported again after closing and restarting the program.  I'm looking at these entries, but I haven't noticed anything which suggests why these ones are duplicated.

I've also tried creating a new .ics file with one of the duplicated entries in it and imported it via the file import, but it doesn't duplicate that one, so it's probably something to do with the Outlook sync code.

Will keep you posted if I notice anything...

I think I've found out why some entries are duplicated while others are not, on importing from Outlook.  The duplicated entries all contain one or more spaces at the end of the subject or note section.  I think KOPi is stripping the spaces on saving the file, then when the file is opened the entries appear to be different to the imported data, giving rise to the duplication.

Cheers,

Dan

FWIW, and admittedly this could just be user error on my part, every device I've ever had on which I tried to sync with outlook, beyond the initial "import" of data, has resulted in duplicate entries. And I've had everything from a Palm to PPC to HPC to Linux. I don't even try anymore. Big loss of functionality, and also a duplication of effort when having to store my appt's in both places manually, but I don't even store contacts in Outlook anymore. That's partially because I don't trust outlook to keep the info from the prying eyes of the bad guys, but also because I don't want to take the time to enter it in both places manually, so I just keep contacts in my handheld.  Generally, and this is just my opinion, M$ apps do not play well with other apps in the schoolyard....

I put in a bug for this on SourceForge, but I thought I'd throw it here too.

Import from Outlook Failure - Recurrence
If you create an appointment in Outlook and set up
recurrence, and set it up to recur Daily, and check the
button for "Every weekday" and save that task, then
KO/Pi for Windows will crash when you attempt to
import the data. Actually it seems to import, but when
you close the box, then it crashes.

Interestingly, if you set it as a "weekly" appointment and check MTWTF, which accomplishes the same affect, it works fine.

Most of my appointments are put on my calendar by other people, so I don't always have the option of what they will do, though I can change them to work for now.

I am using 2.1.16, but I went back and tried the import with some other versions and got the same results. I use this feature to import my OL calendar for use on my Z daily. I don't sync, I just wipe out what is on the Z and import from OL.

Thanks, I positively hate the sourceforge bugtracker.

The box?
I've found a crash bug after sync, so the crash might be in the save code.
Zautrix just commented on a couple of SF bug entries, but he hasn't responded to my emails yet

Set your wifi up properly. I bought the wifi card just so that I wouldn't have to mess around with the cable anymore.
Be warned, there seems to be a couple of crash bugs in 16, and Kapi has formatting problems in portrait.

- There is no joy in Mudville.  Same issue with fastload on reboot with 2.1.16, but this time, I only have to kill KA/PI when the dialog appears.  Unfastload it, then refastload it, and alles ist gut until next reboot.
- Haven't done any other pokin' 'round.  Just installed it about half an hour ago.  I'm poking around with the WiFi and when I rebooted it's definitely not happy.
- As for WiFi, well, that's not inside my firewall, so I can't get to it from the file server.  I don't trust my piddly little WEP, so the WiFi is essentially in a DMZ.  Anyone one it, myself included, can only get out, not in.  The LAN, of course, is wired.  Until WiFi secuity matures it's going to stay that way.
- One of these daze, in my "copious spare time", I'll set up a encrypted tunnel.  It's on the list.  (wry grin)  'Til then it's cable for me.  (shrug)  I don't mind.

In other news, I've ran into the alarm-applet bug, so I'll work on reproducing it and hopefully fixing it.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=88317\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

It happened again the other day after more than a week without the problem.  I had the Z plugged in, but on at the time.  The rest of the week it was off, but plugged in, when the alarm triggered -- i think.

It works for me on my 760.
Did you disable fastload for all other apps?

Yes, this was working.
For that case Outlook returns a "1" for the frequency ( every week ) which is correct.
For "Every weekday"  Outlook returns a "0" for the frequency. That cause a division by zero  later, which causes the crash. I consider that as an Outlook bug. I fixed it by setting the frequency to "1" if Outlook return a "0".

Great that you found the reason.
It is fixed in 2.1.17.
I remove now the white spaces directly after import from summary, location and details.

Good idea!

I added a config option to next version 2.1.17 to make it possible to separate it after the dash.

The calendars import just fine.

The text is cut-and-pasted below and there's a screenshot too.

Strange.

Can you send to me one of the calendar files such that I can try to find the problem?
