I love KO/Pi and I keep upgrading......but, I guess this is a wish list thing.

I would REALLY love a week view like the Psion Agenda used to do, i.e. like an open one week filofax page. It doesn't have the time slots in measured grids, but it makes for very clear reading. I believe Qualendar has a similar view (so I guess I should use Qualendar, eh?)

Can you try to find out what in the csv card file is wrong such that outlook does not import it?

Yes i could check, but I do not have much experience in the Vcard parsing, any suggestion on what could I be looking for?

And thanks for the work on the OL sync!

I meant KA/Pi csv export problems.

Juts create one simple contact and try to import it to Outlook. Does that work?

Great software.  I'm trying it out for the first time and wonder if there is a filter or something else that will let me display a list of todos that are of a single priority.  That is, can I somehow have it ONLY show me tasks with a priority of '1'?  I can't seem to do it with a filter.

Also, the recurring todos are nice, but it seems that when you complete a task all it does it change the due date on it.  I then need uncheck the complete box.  I would think that completing a recurring task would generate a NEW copy of the task with the new date.

Thanks again for all the good work!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=86471\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

No there is no filter for "show only todos with prio 1"

You do not have to set the completed recurring task to "uncomplete". That will be done automatically when the current time is after the start time of the todo.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=86562\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I created some sample CSV files with 1 address in each and all failed with a "Translation Error" message.

I tried to attach a sample CSV file I exported from Ka/Pi that I could not import in OL 2003 but apparently it was not working

Here are the lines in the file:

Code: [Select]
Formatted Name,"Family Name","Given Name","Additional Names","Honorific Prefixes","Honorific Suffixes","Nick Name","Birthday","Category","Home Address Street","Home Address Locality","Home Address Region","Home Address Postal Code","Home Address Country","Home Address Label","Business Address Street","Business Address Locality","Business Address Region","Business Address Postal Code","Business Address Country","Business Address Label","Home Phone","Business Phone","Mobile Phone","Mobile (home)","Mobile (work)","Home Fax","Business Fax","Car Phone","ISDN","Pager","Email Address","Mail Client","Title","Role","Organization","Note","URL","Resource","SIP","Department","Profession","Assistant's Name","Manager's Name","Spouse's Name","Office","IM Address","Anniversary","Gender","Children","FreeBusyUrl","ExternalID"
Code: [Select]
Juleps,"","Juleps","","","","","","Ristoranti","","","","","","","Via Torricelli 21","Milano","MI","20136","Italy","","","+39 (02) 89409029","","","","","","","","","","","","","","Brunch alla domenica\nChiuso il lunedì\n","www.julepsmilano.com","resource-name","","","","","","","","","","","","",":"
Maybe this helps.

Regards,
Adalberto

i have imported my address db - a not so huge 500kb vcf file. i am using KA/Pi for an addressbook.
i have found KA/pi to be cripplingly slow - not only to load, but also to search. A few mins loading, and maybe 15 seconds for a name search.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=76837\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Half a meg of contacts is quite a bit. Jesus.
Loading the app takes a couple of seconds once it has fastloaded (granted, that takes hours, but nobody cares)
Searching takes milliseconds on my Z (search as you type is quite usable). You should disable search as you type and see of that improves it.
While I worked with Z on usability we enable SAYT by default, and it searches all info by default, which is very nice if you want to search fast, but's quite resource-intensive.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=77213\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks for the feedback. Guess i've been busy a while.

I disabled SAYT, but searches are still taking a long time: eg, "dave", all fields, no SAYT, takes 10 seconds.

Also, I know you say that loading takes a long time only once, for fastloading. However, KA/Pi currently occupies ~45k of my memory - more than 3/4 of it on the 3100. So I find I have to shut it  down to use other Apps.

I love Ko/Pi, but I'm really at a loss as to what to do for contact management. What do others with relatively large address db's do - split them into frequently and infrequently used address books?

Thanks, Tone

Will there ever be a search function for KA? It would be most useful. Please forgive if there is and I just haven't found it.

So does that mean there is, but I haven't found it?

By search I don't mean typing in a name and having it narrow that down to a list. What I mean is to externally search all entries in the address book for strings in notes, names, phone numbers, etc.

Thanks,

gdog

If you select "all fields" in the search drop-down you end up with this behaviour.
Either that, or I'm very confused about what you're trying to achieve. I *think* there's an implied wildcard in the KAPI search field but I'm not sure.

Actually what I'm trying to achieve is the ability to search my Contacts in the Fields of Notes, Addresses, Titles, etc as opposed to simply names. For instance if I create an entry for Dr. Foobar and make a note to the effect that he is my pediatrist, it would be very handy to search for pediatrist if I cant remember his name. This is perhaps an oversimplification because I only have a few doctors and they are all in one category. But I do work with dozens of system administrators, each of whom may be responsible for just one particular application on our servers.

Does that explain my goal better?

Thanks!!!

You mean 45 megs (MB) right? Again I'm curious as to how many contacts you have.
If memory use scales too much compared to AB size, there might be something we can do there.

Have you used other solutions with better performance before? If they're OSS Zautrix could always take a look, but I seriously doubt there are better alternatives on the Zaurus. But if you (or anyone else) know better, don't hesitate to bash me over the head.
If the performance is better on other platforms (Palm, Windows Mobile), I'd love to know as well, and again that counts for everyone.
As to the splitting: you might get away with using 2 resources, and only load the complete book when you need obscure contacts. The drawback is that you have to actively manage who gets to go into which book, total PITA.
I don't want to get your hopes up about future performance, though. You can only crawl variable length fulltext so fast.

Yes but I don't see how this is not possible with an all-fields search. Select "All Fields" in the drop down, and it should work. If it doesn't, don't hesitate to post again and I'll try to see what's going on, but I just tested it by searching for strings only found in Notes, and it works fine here. Let us know.
Edit: One thing I just thought about: are you looking for several strings at the same time (in a single search, like Support and Oracle for someone in the Support department who's responsible for the Oracle setup)? That might be borked, and I'm going ot test it now.
More edit: what version are you running? We fixed a bug a while ago where "All Fields" was lying, and searching only in the displayed fields (whoever came up with that deserves to be taken behind the barn and shot, but that's another story).

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  What I am trying to do is to create a one-way sync (i.e. import), from Outlook into KOPI.

If I use KOPI on Windows I can import calendar appointments from Outlook, no problem.  If I repeat the import then no more appointments are imported (which is ideal).  However, if I close KOPI and restart it and try to import the appointments, they are all imported again, so I get two copies of each appointment.  If I close and reopen KOPI again and repeat this, I get three copies of each appointment, etc.

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=86317\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
The expected behaviour for an import is to just dump the new events in the calendar, no matter what's in there already. It should create the dubplicates before you restart Kopi, I don't know why it doesn't.

No, it does check for duplicates.
That check works for newly imported items , but it does not work for saved and reloaded items.  I have fixed something in the import handling. Maybe it will work in the latest version.

Aha, that's a bit counter-intuitive, isn't it? Is there any way you can make that persistent?
