Just noticed a _very_ nice drawing program on killefiz called Petite Peinture:

Anyway, the best thing about it is the author also offers a modified kernel that supports pressure sensitivity on the Z, something no other PDA could ever hope to have! Any chance this could be rolled in to either the wireless kernel (javab0y, richjn), or the performance kernel (various!)??

Or heck, why not a kernel that does all three - wireless hostap patches, performance (without the overclocking), and pressure sensitivity? Either way, I will be flashing to this kernel soon, as I\'ve been dying for a good drawing program for my C760 - and having used a drawing tablet for years, I know how useful pressure sensitivity can be for drawing!

The pressure sensitve screen drivers are experimental but nonetheless built in to the kernel and just need to be enabled to compile. If there is enougth interest I will compile one but it seems to me (partly my fault) that we have too many variants floating around so I will see how many respond to this thread.

The pressure sensitive patch caused problems on the 5600. It worked sort of, but it was a bit arbitrary as to whether it detected your stylus tap or even that you had lifted your stylus off the screen. That app looks like it was designed for the Cxxx Zaurii. It does look cool though. My wife would love that.

That\'d be great fun to play with for us C series owners, so long as it doesn\'t affect everyday usage like tumnus suggests it would.

I love the paintings this thing can produce (check http://sun.dhis.portside.net/~sakira/bbs/p.../ppeinture.cgi), especially the bottom one!

I\'m definately interested in a kernel with these drivers compiled along with the wireless extension & monitor mode. What do you say you give it a go?

O.K I do one with Wireless + Overclock + Pressure sensitive but no pre-emptive as I still haven\'t resolved the USB device freeze when its included.

Will be a day or two as I\'m up to my neck at the moment but will email it to you to try out before posting here.

Richard, you rock my friend !
Can I suggest that you leave off the overclock patch? I didn\'t notice enough of an increase in speed to over-come my concern about shortening the life of my Z.

Pressure sensitive alone is enough to make me select an SL-6000 when it is released in the USA. Else, I will get a SL-CXX0 when that is released. Then I can stop dragging my Graphire around!

there is a [manual] way compiling some sensitivity stuff into the kernel.

there are mainly two configuration options:
CONFIG_SL_3BUTTON_PATCH - SL-C Series 3 Button touch screen
CONFIG_SL_TS_PRESSURE - SL-Series touchscreen pressure value read

ensure you enable both during kernel compilation.

Well, my tests are inconclusive so far, I think we need some more testers. I can\'t tell if the pressure feature is not working or I just can\'t get the drawing app to work right.:oops: I\'ve tried following the english manual on Petite Peinture\'s website (and even bablefished the Japanese version) I can\'t seem to get the pressure/density feature of the pen to work. I must say though the drawing app is very cool, even without the pressure feature working.

I\'ll keep fiddling with it, but if there is someone else out there that is more artistically inclined that wants to test it let Richard know.

On a side note the wireless part of the kernel is still working well.

It\'s included in all the recently released Cacko ROM\'s (pdaXrom, Cacko Qtopia); to enable touch sensitive open up a terminal, su and type in \"echo 1 ] /proc/ts\" and hit tab to autocomplete the rest (I think it\'s like /proc/tspressure but I can\'t be arsed to look hehe).

When you reboot your Zaurus you\'ll need to perform the above sequence again as it defaults to 0 which disables the pressure sensititivity.
